Making my own pasta today

My boyfriend got me the pasta making attachment to my Kitchen-Aid stand mixer for Christmas and today, I finally have the time to attempt to make the pasta! So, any suggestions to making a terrific pasta dinner for me and my boyfriend tonight? Added ingredients, garlic, herbs? What sort of pastas do you make?

I haven't made any pasta yet. I think my husband would get scared if I came home with a pasta maker. I got a bread machine about 4 weeks ago, and I've made bread constantly ever since. I'd like to have a pasta maker though. I really think that foods made fresh are better for you without all the preservatives in them.

I adore the smell of baking bread! I have a bread machine too. Hey! Perhaps I'll make some Italian bread too, to go with my pasta! HA! I agree, fresh foods are better, and better for you. What has been your favorite bread so far to make?

My favorite bread I've made so far is Texas Sourdough. That one is by hand, not in the machine and it's so simple! If you'd like the recipe, please add me as a friend and I'll message it to you.

My advice is to let my girlfriend make it - I suck at it ;) Seriously though, I think her secret is to make sure everything the dough touches is thoroughly floured to make sure it doesn't stick. We have a manual pasta maker with a hand crank, so I don't know if the KitchenAid attachment will work better, but she also runs the dough through the machine several times, decreasing the thickness each time. It's pretty time consuming, but definitely tasty!

Sadly, I never got around to it yesterday. Seems I kept finding other things to do. However, I will get to it this week. Humm, maybe I can have a friend of mine come over and do it for me? :) I'm hip to the flour!
