What do you think of participating in medical trial studies?

Okay, I think it's like being a lab rat. But it would be neat to see how they go about the process to determine whether a medicine will be released for use. And I'm sure that they watch over you real carefully. I hear that it pays well, too!

My mother also took part in cancer trials - it was great. They actually paid her to go the doctor :) I think the cancer trial has definately given her a loner lifespan. THey do look after you really well because they have to report their results very specifically. On the other side of he coin - I had a friend who took part in trials for cash and he suffered some terrible side effects from the medications. I think it might be something "fun" to do for cash - but I would never risk my health. If you are healthy rather give it a miss :)

That's great for your mom! For your friend, I hope that those aren't permanent side affects! They have some that they ask for "healthy adults" where they're trying to find out a general aspect of a medication. For instance, the one that I did they were trying to see how long it takes for a body to metabolize and get it out of the system for one dose, and taking into account how food intake affects the process. Then there are other trials that they work with a specific problem/condition that they're trying to alleviate and you have to be affected by that problem, obviously, to participate. So there are pros & cons. I felt that mine was a pretty safe and generalized test so I went ahead & did it. Also because it was only a 2 nite stay. And I may not ever be in a position in my life where I would be able to try it, so I just thought it would be something neat to do. Thanks for sharing!! Aloha!

i think i would be too scared to do that, not to mention that i don't like to be the subject of anyone's researches:P....and i am terrified of doctors even when they tell me they know what they are doing..imagine if they told me they are not sure hahaha

ROFL!! Yeah, it's kinda weird, but then I'm so curious and always looking for something new to do, so I find it intriguing! Aloha!!
