Getting Flu Shot, then getting the Flu

How many of you our there have (or family/friends) have gotten the flu shot and then gotten the flu? I don't mean just the classic, mini cold after you get your flu shot, but gotten the flu, so you are quite sick? A family member of mine got sick just a few days after getting it, and it's been 3 weeks. Finally starting to get out of the house and going to the gym in small steps. He had to sleep all day, go in and out mainly only to the doctors'. I was not feeling well after the flu shot, but it only lasted a couple of days.

Both my mother and I had flu shots as we are both high risk.

Unfortionately, it didn't stop the flu from absolutely clobbering us. Mom is recovering...abet slowly. I have little or no voice to speak with. I just thank God that MyLot requires fingers to chat. THEY work just fine, when I am not busy snoring like a buzz saw.

My step dad got this thing too, but I don't think he got a flu shot. He's busy sleeping it off.

Sorry to hear you joined my club. This stinks. It's already been 8 days bedridden, sleeping and eating (though everything tastes bad).
I am also at higher risk, and got the flu shot. My father actually got it for 3 weeks soon after the shot. And then after he finally recovered, it got another flu! (Must be a different flu infection). I still can not talk either. :o(

They're talking about completely revamping the flu shot because of adaptations of the virus.

It's possible your family member
got the live virus.
They are not supposed
to use too much live virus
when creating the anti-dote.
Sometimes they get it wrong and you get
sick from the actual shot.
It doesn't happen to many people
It could have been salmonella poisoning.
The scientists use chicken eggs
to fertlize and develop
the flu shot and it may have contaminated
the batch of flu shot
with salmonella which is present in eggs.
It's a possibility that more people got
sick from that batch.
