I am very fond of thrift shops. Not that I buy from these stores frequently but because I am amazed by the kind of goods they sell. Normally, you find really unique products. At times, you also get to see hard-to-find goods that are sold inexpensively. I was able to buy a Hello Kitty collector's item (never been used) at a very reasonable price. I found out that my friend was able to buy the same item from a specialty store at three times the price. How about you? Do you buy from thrift shops? What purchases have you made so far?

Yes I buy lots of things from the thrift store. I find my vacuum bags there for less than 50cents a pack, curtains, furniture, boy clothes, work clothes for my hubby (he gets covered in tar so why buy new) books, games, seasonal decorations (over 500 ft of xmas lights, 3$), wow I could go on, and on!! Plus they have a 50% off day once a month. The money they make there from everything goes to our local Outreach Ministry to help people, and it is staffed by volunteers. So to me I'm Donating to a good cause, saving money for myself, and buying used products cuts down production of new stuff (better for the environment) More people should shop there!!

You are right! I also get to find good books especially novels by my favorite authors at the thrift shops. Really cool!

Well, thrift shops are not that common at where I stay...But when I'm overseas, I do look for and visit thrift shops for the same reason...unique and affordability.

I prefer shopping in thrift stores & consignment shops. It's better for the environment, as the items would otherwise be going to a landfill. It's better for my budget. And like you said, one can often find unique items quite inexpensively.

I shop at thrift shops whever i get the chance. When we go out of town and we have time to spare i often look for a thift shop in the area and I have found some pretty good deals. I have bought designer clothes for half or less than their retail price and lets see, I collect nascar stuff..I found a dale earnhardt jacket in good conditioner gave 5$ for it. I bought some vintage dishes also and sold them on ebay. Thift shops are great because it help the community and others in need. As they say one mans junk is another mans treasure. Happy Shopping.

I buy from a consignment shop for my almost 2 year old son. I've gotten some really nice toys, shoes, and clothes from there. Name brand stuff for cheap. When kids are little they go through clothes like crazy because they grow so fast. I can't see spending a lot of money when I can go to the consignment store and buy him things for half the price or less.

I actually do a fair bit of purchasing from thrift stores. My boys clothes come partly from them, and the rest of their clothes have come from yard sales, and the occasional ebay lot. I also will buy dishes from there if I'm needing something I can find easily in one. Part of my husband's clothes come from them, but its harder to find things to fit him then it is the 2 boys. The other thing I buy out of thrift stores is books, most of which I resell for a profit, sometimes little sometimes big.

I buy most of my clothing at thrift shops. I love the Goodwill store and the Salvation Army. This year I was able to purchase a Mega Blocks wagon for $3.99. I got it for my grandson for Christmas. It was his favorite present. I have seen it on Amazon.com for $25.00. If I can save a few dollars here and there, I am able to purchase more. Or even save some for later. Yeah, right. LOL

I love thrift store shopping but don't do it as much now that I went back to work. Besides clothes for myself or my girls, I always go here first, if they need ; my best find was a book that my grandmother had on her bookcase that I always read every time I went over there. Well the book was lost, another story in itself, and I found the exact book. I bought it and my youngest and I are sharing it. It is a book of 365 bedtime storys that was written in 1950. It takes place on What a Jolly Street and there are 22 children who live on that street. Each story is a page long and centers around the children, etc. I absolutely adored this book growing up. I made my 6 year old promise that she will share this with her children one day!!! I have an online friend who does very well finding vintage clothing and turning around and selling it on eBay. I have done that with a couple of things but didn't really want to get into all that because I have the bad habit of going overboard and then it just sits there.

I like going tom thrift shops because not only is it less expensive, but like you said, you can find unique items that not many people have.. I have many clothes from the thrift shop and from department stores and you know what? Whenever I wear stuff from the department store, I see someone else wearing the same thing, but not when I wear things from the thrift shop..I like being the only one wearing a certain dress or shirt..:)

You're right. There are many useful things that can bought from Thrift Shops. Once I bought a helpful book from a Thrift Shop which costs 5 times more than a new one.

We usually go to the thrift shop to buy clothes and household items like dishes, curtains, and sometimes sheets. The place we go donates all that money to the church that it's owned by to help people pay their utility bills and also helps run their food pantry. So not only do we get clothes really cheap, it's also a way of donating to the less fortunate.

Thrift stores do have good deals. My brother in law has shopped at them in the past. My husband and I have gone into a few ourselves.
