Let's take the talent that we DO have... what little of it we have and then trade it away in some idiotic trade for some big name player who has been sidlined for two years because of injuries, pay them a huge salary so they can limp through 20 games or so and then dump them off for nothing. Yeah that makes financial sense to me. Why doesn't Baltimore look at a team like the Yankees who is doing all they can to have the best farm system in the major leagues -- turning down the opportunity to catch the best pitcher in baseball in the process. If memory serves, Roberts was a nobody who Baltimore hung with and finally he broke out with a huge year and has been producing ever since. Is it senseable for them to trade him now that he is a bona fide star... are the O's bursting at the seems with 2nd basemen? No and no. Is he on the chopping block to get traded... probably so. I've been with 'my team' since I was a little kid... in '82 when Ripken started his Streak, in '83 when the won the World Series and every year since that they've been not much more than a losing team whose only reason for not ending last in their division is because there is Tampa Bay in it. Trade Bedard and who's the #1 pitcher, trade Roberts and who's the new 2nd baseman. Hasen't enough damage already been done?
