I have gradusted from college for about half a year, and now work an an editor in a Publishing company. I find that I am fed up with this job, doing the editing things, siting in the chair all day long, what's more, the salary is not that much as I expected. What would do if you are in my shoes? Quit the job? really puzzeled.

Thanks for your advice and I will try to do that. I were not happy about myself when I know my old classmates earn more than I do. But now I am not upset, there is aways a door opens for me. Thanks,grandpa^_^

What kind of materials does that publishing company do? Themes and content. If you can go to another publishing company with its materials corresponding with your interests, why not switch? For me, I've always wanted to do something that's related with what I studied in college, being an editor is one of them. Then a gaming mag would also be a good idea.. but that's just me thinking. If you would really like to change your job, you might as well finish it until you get that employment certificate so that you can add that up on your resume when your going to apply at other companies.

Well, I majored in English and I think I would like to be a translator. The company I am working for is doing books, esp. English books for students (from high school to college). I am sure going to switch the job one day. And thanks for you reminding me of the employment certificate, that would be very helpful.

English books for either High School or College, you mean text books...? Well, earn that employment certificate and in the mean time, send out resumes and find better employment. And if an offer goes better than what your currently working at, I guess one certificate at stake wouldn't be a bad item to leave behind when you transfer to another work. Comfortably working in an environment is much better after all. Benefits and other nice offers are indeed preferable. Majored in English.. that's nice and advantage when it comes to internationally related occupations. And then you mentioned on translation. Which languages can you translate into english? All I can do is my native language into english and vice versa.. a little spanish that I don't practice anymore so I guess its rusty now.

i used to do this..get mad and quit a job..and if the economy is good and you have a lot of prospects then it is ok..but i would first check the resumes out and send them out to see if anyone is interested...also friends and relatives and anyone who can be of help..i got a lot of jobs this way..by just asking if there was any openings..good luck..I am sorry you are disgusted with your job..i hated working for low pay in a place like an office. If would seem forever before my day was done and it really tired me out just to sit doing a lot of paperwork. Cost Accounting is not fun..and it is very boring..but that is just me..the worst part is the fellow workers seemed to be content with their lot..but to each his own. Good luck. But keep the day job..having a job is a good sign to anyone who is thinking about hiring you..it makes you look more of an asset then if you are not employed..methinks.

It is so sweet of you to share your experience with me. ^_^ "Having a job is a good sign". and I will keep this in my heart and try to do everything I can, better. Then I am a real asset. Then whatever I am going to do, it would be easy and fine. Thanks.

I would find another job before I quit. That way if it take a while, then you still have an income. It would stink if you quit and then had troubles finding a new job right away.
