I wrote a post yesterday about being afraid of food. That is where I am at right now. I know I am a bit freaking out and have to get a grip but honestly right now I feel afraid to eat. I do of course but still avoiding it as much as possible these past few days. I also just posted another discussion asking if we have to give up our favorite foods when I saw your post. I wish you the best on this tough journey. I will try and keep in touch to see how or doing maybe we can draw encouragement from each other. Right now though I really don't feel to encouraging as I am in despair over this problem.

I'm on a diet as well, but you can't just go on a diet. You really have to admit to yourself that it's a lifestyle change. I've been doing this since my surgery. I quit smoking in October of 2006 and I was down for a year and a half with back problems. I gained 70 something pounds during this time. Since December, I have lost 15 pounds. I came across a website that has really helped me to understand the things I needed to change in my life to make eating a healthier and more fulfilling thing. The support from all of the people there is just phenomenal. And it's all free. I've limited my calories and my fat intake and started with the Alli program. It's been quite effective. The difference with the eating change alone was about a pound to a pound and a half in a week. With the Alli program, I lost 4 to 4 and a half pounds in a week.

Hi, I don't consider myself on a diet because that word has a turn off signal for me, I say I'm on a program and that to me, helps me stay on the program, and so this is what I say and I been on a downward mode for the past 4 to 6 months, and yes I've been dropping 3 to 6 pounds a month and as long as I'm losing, it doesn't matter how much I lose as long as I see a lost on the scale, I know I'm on the right track. I'm a diabetic and I know as long as I'm losing weight I'm doing good, because its not good to lose weight fast, slower you lose, the longer you keep it off. In 1999, I lost a 100 lbs? It took a year to shed that 100 pounds and I've never gained it all back and thats been 9 years ago, and the total amount that I've gained back is about 45lbs, and I'm not on the program I used to lose, but just doing the things I do now I'm still losing about 3 to 6 lbs. a month.

Yep, I am going to lose it this time and keep it off. Not so much on a diet as trying to get fit again, stay fit for the rest of my life. So I am watching what I eat but exercising a lot more mainly.

Hello Kelzuk, Good luck to you with your diet. I've been on one since October 2007 and to date I've lost 33 lbs. I've been pretty srict with my intake as far as balancing fats and carbs. I also try to keep my evening carbs very low. Some weeks I've lost up to 4 lbs and some weeks 1 lb so I don't focus on that. I just try to going. I am currently 3 lbs away from my weight goal, but I'm happy with my results. Now I want to exercise to build up my sagging areas. Any suggestions?

Hi Kelzuk, Glad to know that you are on diet. I have been into it some time back. I think, its very important to do it wisely and under medical supervision. Food substitutes and diet powders could be harmful. So, its better to eat less, eat healthy and then burn it out by gyming or doing exercises. I would like to tell you that while its really necessary to stay fit and slim but its very important to stay healthy. I think its more about the consciousness. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits and fibres instead to concentrating on medicinal diets totally. Good luck!
