I have decided no more diets for me.. I have tried many diets over the years and yes most will work but once I stop dieting if I am not careful I gain the weight back plus and it doesn't happen quickly it happens sometimes over a long period but it happens. I was born a large person. My whole life I have battled with the bulge. I am 43 now and am over 100 pounds overweight. I contribute most of that gain on 2 cesareans and a complete hysterectomy within 6 years. In those 6 years I was dealing with a fibroid tumor the size of a bowling ball that was making very ill. Every time I tried to work out I got very ill. It's been 2 years since my surgery and I realized that I turned into a butterball. I jouned a gym with a lap pool and started swimming. (I was over 300 pounds and swimming was about all I could do.) I stopped drinking coffee and started drinking decaff green tea, added more water to my diet and eat tons of vegetables and fruits. I use honey instead of sugar if I need to sweeten something. Basically eat a high protein and low carbs.I have been doing this for 3 weeks and have lost a total of 30 pounds. I don't feel hungry and I have tons of energy. I can bend over and put my socks on again without struggling. There is hope but it's not in Dieting it's changing the way you eat permanently and get off your butt and move it......

Diets can be bad for you when you stop them and revert to overeating again. Cutting the carbohydrates is a good start to cutting calories and losing weight. In today's society and fast food everywhere, it's getting harder and harder to eat healthy and maintain your weight--let alone lose it! Good luck with your plan!

Thankyou for the support. The only thing that is really hard right now is I home school and I'm at home all day around food. I have been working on my kids and getting most all the bad foods out of the house. I have been trying to find good food with kid taste. Anybody have any great recipies that kids like that are healthy?

How about apple slices with peanut butter? My kids all loved that growing up, and it was one way to get them to eat fruit!

i dont think diets work either...as long as you eat healthy, eat in moderation and get plenty of exercise... i also had 2 c sections and a partial hysteromy but i am very active, and used to walk a lot, now i am waiting on double knee replacements and have to be double careful what i eat now because i am not as active!

I know I'm not alone and I know if I just keep up with the healthy eating along with the excercise I will hit my goal. I can't just eat healthy and in moderation I have to excercise its the only way for my body to loose weight or maintain. I guess i just have a slow metabalism. I love the swimming and believe this is what is going to do the trick.
