Hi I missed last summer but I want to grow garden in this year. I am in south east London. Do you have any suggestions? I have a big patio.

Hi roshnichaudhary, It sounds like you are looking to establish a garden on your patio, so I guess that means you'd be constrained to container plants and pot plants? Are you intending to grow a garden for show, or to produce food for the kitchen? Either way, I'd suggest a couple of small fruit trees such as the Dwarf Meyer if you can get your hands on them. Dwarf Meyers are a genuine dwarf citrus tree that grow very well in pots, and fruit continuously and abundantly all year round. Their fruit is (I believe) a lemon/mandarin hybrid - they look like lemons, but are much sweeter. Strawberries are another excellent choice for container cropping, and they companion well with Borage. Tomatoes and Peppers are also very well suited to cultivation in confined spaces, but make sure they're grown with Basil for extra vigor and strength. As for flowers, well I'm not too knowledgeable, but would be inclined to Marigolds and Pyrethrum Daisies, if only for the benefit to other plants around them. If you have a shady side of the patio, then a few pots of different Mint varieties might go well there (but keep them away from Strawberries, which have a strong disliking for Mints). Those are just some loose ideas, but I'm sure you could spend days planning out all the varieties and combinations that you might be able to squeeze into your patio area. I hope it goes really well for you.
