Well long term investment is economical but initial investment would entail you to invest large and you would start enjoying its benefit over time before you can finally say that you are saving from it already. Right now prices of one set is really high that is why there are many that are not that keen on using it as an alternative to the power grid as their source of electricity.

Yes solar energy is very economical. Since you will be tapping the sun's energy. If you just look at the long term goal, you will see that you can really conserve energy and conserve money with a solar panel with you. I am even planning in buying one.

Really does seem economical. Now if they could figure out how to conserve energy in things that need electricity so that it could last longer, it would be more economical ^_^

Its economical to some extents but doesn't compare when viewed in nation or whole world terms compared to existing energy sources (sad to say, but still true). Solar power is becoming more economical by the day due to improvements in the technology and the growing expense of other fuel sources. No reason to write it off, but its not going to be an ultimate panacea for the world's energy concern. A synergy of efficient energy sources must be achieved.
