thoughts on President Bush's State of the Union Address

Honnestly, I was not impressed with his speech at all. One thing in particular that irked me... he's still pusing the No Child Left Behind crap. I'm sorry, but it has been the downfall of our schools. The teachers are having to prepare the kids for tests and not to teach them the basics. The only thing I did think was valuable was his suggesting to make the GI Bill education benefits transferrable to wives and children. As for his plan for the borders, well, I hear bla bla bla, because I'll believe it when I see it. The whole thing to me was his last chance to stroke his ego. He expected applause after every sentence. It would have been far more effective to just do the speech with no audience and be done with it. But it's like he has to have that stoking of his ego. There were a few times I was surprised that he was able to pronounce some words though.

I thought that the President's State of the Union Address was pretty good, although there was not much in the way of stopping nuclear proliferation. The number one thing is to fight terrorism at its roots.

He seemed to want to remind us all why we don't approve of him! Some of the things he said tonight sounded like they'd been copied almost word for word from previous State of the Union Addresses. It's really bad when you have such low expectations of somebody and he still fails to measure up! Annie

The President did well in presenting his case to the nation. We have had a lot of positive things to come out of the last seven years..let us hope the new President and congress can get the economy grewing at a healtier rate...
