WELL just about two years ago I found my birthfamily!!! I have a GREAT SISTER... for the first time... it was so great to be able to say that word SISTER... I also have three brothers... but I got that Sister... those of you that have sisters... don't know what you have til you didn't have it and then get it... it was great to meet my SISTER for the first time... we are so much alike... it is great!!

While I am very happy for you, I would also like to say that pls don’t go so much overboard about this that you hurt the family that has nurtured you all these years. Blood is definitely thicker than water but even then, in India we have this saying that the nurturer is greater than the biological mother. The Hindu god Krishna was given birth by Devaki but brought up by Jashoda. Everybody associates Krishna with Jashoda and not Devaki.

OH I have to agree with you here... but that is IF you have a relationship with the family that nurtured you... me... well I ended up being raised by my adopted aunt and uncle... and they passed away over 12 years ago... so I was lost... had no one... so to find... well that was one of the best things that ever happened in my life... besides giving birth to my own children!

Yvonne, are you in close contact with your sister? I remember when you finally got to meet her, I was just wondering if you stay in touch via email or phone.

it isn't always about her contacting you... if you really want it... go for it!! You go find her...sometimes adoptees feel like you have rejected them and dont want them... that is why you gave them up in the first place... but if you look for her... who knows...she may be looking for you also!! i wish you the best in this!!! Go For it!

Isnt that wonderful... personally... I would just send her thinking of you thoughts once in a while... not much else you can do... but wait...Maybe she does not want to hurt the family that has raised her... But at least you have the knowing that she is okay... and you probably did the best thing for her at the time!

I found her on myspace last year and in Dec. 07 she turned 18 so I contacted her on her birthday and told her who I was and even sent some pictures of me holding her in the hospital. I saw that she looked at my myspace profile several times but she hasn't contacted me yet. I know it might take some time for her to warm up to the idea and I told her I didn't want to pressure her but I just wanted her to have my information if she ever decides to contact me. I really hope one day she does. :)
