I have read in some articles that coffee is good for the heart since it increases circulation and would most likely take away cholesterol deposits in the heart's arteries. However I have also come upon some articles that coffee is bad for the heart since it has caffeine and it increases the the contraction and causing the heart to overworked thereby increasing the risk of heart disease or heart attack. Have you got any idea?

Yeah only excess drinking of coffee increase risk of heart disease but limited drinks do not. Coffee has many usefulness in other disease too. But excess coffee consumption may lead to a magnesium deficiency or hypomagnesaemia, and may be a risk factor for coronary heart disease. It may have a mixed effect on short-term memory, by improving it when the information to be recalled is related to the current train of thought, but making it more difficult to recall unrelated information.
Nevertheless, the mainstream view of medical experts is that drinking three 8-ounce (236 ml) cups of coffee per day (considered average or moderate consumption) does not have significant health risks for adults. Such as Coffee appears to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, heart disease, diabetes mellitus type 2, cirrhosis of the liver, and gout. Some health effects are due to the caffeine content of coffee, as the benefits are only observed in those who drink caffeinated coffee, while others appear to be due to other components. For example, the antioxidants in coffee prevent free radicals from causing cell damage.
Coffee's negative health effects are mostly due to its caffeine content. Research suggests that drinking caffeinated coffee can cause a temporary increase in the stiffening of arterial walls.
Coffee beans can restore the appetite after cooking and refresh olfactory receptors. People can regain their appetite by smelling coffee beans.

Now I fully understand! That is probably the reason why some say that its good and some say that its bad. The idea is not in excess. With respect to memory, I think you are precisely correct. I have experience a slight events of forgetfulness lately. It really pays to know. As for the good effects, lets drink to that! Thanks for the very informative insights!

When I was in the hospital following heart surgery, I could not get a cup of coffee to save my soul! Based on that, I'd say the medical profession is against coffee for heart health. However, a caveat against drinking coffee was not part of the instructions I received when I left the hospital.
In addition, I'd like to comment that the rules keep changing!

From your answer, I presume that you are a coffee drinker. Welcome to the club! I am a coffee drinker myself. I fully agree with you, rules keep changing and sometimes it can get really confusing. Well, I think what is important is control and self assessment. I just have to end this reply, I have to go and drink my coffee.....

A cup or two per day should not cause any problem. That way, there are so many things (some liquids and some solids) which we consume are also harmful. But then it depends on the level one maintains. If it is within limits, then it is ok.
