can you tell me what is latex and also about its editor because i really don't know about it...

latex is a text editor wherein we can design the page layouts based on our requirement, like books, thesis etc. it is similar to microsoft, but the difference lies in versatility. using latex is similar to writing a c-program. we need to follow the syntax, and have to compile the document in the end to create the pdf document with specified layout.

LaTeX is a text editor very common in Unix systems that is supposed to be better for large and complex documents. The learning curve is not the easiest and it got restricted to academic use.
There is the www.latexeditor.org site with a free editor, note that it's not a gnu license.
