My name is Liz, from Malaysia. I converted to a Christian 2 years ago in a local church.Becoming a Christian is something impossible for a Malay in Malaysia. Here as you are born as Malay, you are automatically a Muslim. After Baptism on November 2003,I submitted an application to change my name and religion as a Christian (which has not been approved to date).I was then called by the the Religious Department for a strict and continous counselling (which sometimes even sounds like a threat). On my last counselling on August 2005,my parents were called upon by the Religious Department to be informed and to get their permission for me to convert...and that was the beginning of everything. My son was taken away from my custody as I am no longer a Muslim.I was threaten by my own father to burn me alive if he ever seen me again.I wanted to fight for my son, but i don't have the right.According to the law,a non-muslim parent does not have the right to have his/her muslim child...even if the child is a baby. My son is now 3 1/2 years old.My sister used to bring him to me secretly.I plan to get my child and leave this country, but i don't know where to go.Please, i need advice and assitance...I really don't know what to do.

I know this discussion is 2 years old, but wanted to hear of any updates and to pray for you! We here in the USA, take for granted the things we have, the freedom. May God show you the way! Read and pray Psalm 91

I just read this and was going to answer but I see that it is 2 years ago. I wonder if she is o.k. and wonder why she has abandoned MYLOT. My God to think that we who are living in the west takes our liberty for granted. It is so sad.

Am sorry about your percution Liz, but all those are biblical-we get persecuted as Christians for our faith, fight evil with faith and invoke the blood of Jesus in every situation, I tell you, There is nothing that our god cannot do and the devil is always a loser-you will discover tat very soon-I ove you and may God be your armour against the devil's machinations!

Dear Liz, I almost cann't believe that things like this still happen. One should be glad to live in a free country! I had problems before, being married to a moslim in my first marriage. When we split, he treatened to take my daughter away. I received police protection. Finally I left the country where I lived at that time, in order to be safe with my child. Now having a european passport helps to move around. I have no idea what about a malaysian passport. I worked left and right whenever I found a job, so we survived. And finally my situation got solved. I wish you lots of strength, and courage!

You poor thing. I can't even imagine being put under such oppression. Do you know where the closest United States Embassy is located? Wish you the best. Of course, the problem now is, now that the "religious department" has been notified of your seemingly traiterous ideals, how closely do you think they could be watching you? Prayers are with you.
