Aargh, Mylot Should Have A "Save Discussion" Feature

I just spent 20 minutes typing out a discussion and when I added the image and then selected "start discussion" I lost it because it said I wasn't signed in and yet I DID sign in before I began my discussion ?!?! I hit the back button and my discussion was lost!! GRRRR! Mylot should have an automatic feature or something along the lines where it saves your discussion if errors occur so that you don't lose it nor have to retype it. Maybe I should of typed it in "Word" first and copied and pasted it from there - does anyone do that? or am I just the only clumsy one on here? *scream* LOL

That hasn't happened to me yet but I'm sure it would make me mad if I had spent 20 minutes typing it out and then it was gone. I just type it on here...I don't type it in "word" and then copy/paste...that takes too long. LOL

I got tricked one time too many until I decide to employ my own "Save Discussion" feature. I often create my discussion in notepad and then copy it. NO fret if the screen suddenly goes bersek :p

You are not alone. I have had this happen more times then I wish to admit. So, I have gotten to where I will type up the discussion here on mylot. Then I just highlight it and copy it. That way if an error occurs. All I have to do is start it again and paste it in. But typing it in word would be a good idea as well. Best of luck.

yup it just happened to me. i hadn't logged in, typed out a response to you, then after i logged in the answer disappeared. i guess i would take too much trouble to prepare all our discussions on Word first though. they should definitely have a save discussion function.

Another poster suggested wordpad or notepad which would work too. I just have to get into the habit of copying the discussion before adding an image or something before hitting post comment.

2nd attempt: So many times I've lost responses here - and as Murphy's Law would have it, it's always the long responses that I muck up. Either I forget to sign in, :( or since I'm a new user and can't copy/paste I mistakenly move some text around in my response (like I just did during THIS response! aaargh - hence the "2nd attempt"). I completely understand you! (though I've never yet lost a discussion - as I haven't created too many discussions yet to potentially lose) Whenever I remember to, I do the copy thing (learnt that a long time ago from losing emails in a slow browser) but it's when I forget that I make the mistakes! Bless you, Old Murphy.

Yup a good idea and wish I had thought of that LOL i don't know why it takes me a while to think of things to say in a discussion but with my other post it took me that long LOL

I copy and paste it right from here before I hit submit. I have dial up so when I hiy submit it takes a little while to go through and I hate having to retype it all over again. It's saved many a discussion. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I remember I used to growl in frustration when this sort of thing happened and would start typing out posts in word first before I pasted it here - but I got fed up doing that pretty quickly and just went back to typing it straight into mylot! I think a way of saving what you are writing is a great idea - you could always delete anything before you posted it! xxx

Maybe I'll suggest it to mylot after they add a spell checker and all the other features other mylottians have asked for :)
