Who has satellite?

Who here has satellite? I just got our cable bill and we have just standard cable and it's going up again...to $51.95 a month plus I have internet with them so that's another $50. I'm tired of them going up all the time so I'm interested in satellite. So if you have it do you like it, how much does it cost you, and how many channels do you get, and who do you have service with? I've heard bad and good stories about satellite so I want to hear what everyone has to say.

We have Directv. We really like it, because here, the cable is really unreliable. The only time I have problems with Directv is if it rains really hard and I lose my signal (but that has only happened maybe 3 times in the past year or two.) We have more than the regular plan, so we pay like 80 bucks a month, but that includes 2 HD boxes (which are more expensive, plus all the regular channels, plus the HBO and Showtime Channels). The basic package is like 40 dollars I believe.

We checked on some prices through Windstream tonight. I think we are going to go with them. They have a package of 100 channels plus you get the local channels for $34.99 or you can get that with the DVR and it's only $39.99. It's cheaper than cable...cause they are wanting to charge $51.95 for only about 72 or 74 channels.

I dont have a satelite I have comcast digital cable. It seems to be the better deal then a satelite. You get more hd channels which is good. and I think you also get more channels that satelite. Plus you dont have to worry about it stopping during a storm which would suck. Im not sure about the price but I think digital cable is cheaper then satelite.

I haven't heard of comcast before. We have Time Warner Cable in our area and I hate it. My internet and cable go out all the time and every single time it rains I have trouble with it. They have come out several times to check it and they say nothing is wrong with it.
