Terraforming Mars?

We were watching PBS the other night, and saw an interesting show about trying to make Mars habitable. Like all things scientific, it's a pretty controversial topic (according to NOVA.) Scientists believe that it IS possible to introduce oxygen producing bacteria to the planet, eventually, growing and introducing other plant species. This will take 10s of thousands of years, but I BELIEVE it to be possible. The only reason there isn't life there now, is there is no Oxygen. or other atmospere to help keep the planet warm. Introducing the O2 producing plant life will restore the atmospere, melt the water that is frozen on the polar caps, may--although unlikely-- support animal life. How cool is that??? I know it isn't anything we'll see in our life time, but the whole idea of inhabiting another planet is kind of cool. What do you think?

..well it's a favorite idea of mine that many planets will be brought to life, once this issue of "good and evil" is settled..

My son is right into Discovery race to mars and about all the efforts to find out more about the planet. I think it is cool to see if we can develop it into a livable planet. However I don't want us to mess it up the way we did here. Kind like we destroyed this one now lets just move to the next one and destroy that one too.
