I just took my 10yr old grandson to the dr. He was running a temp of 101 that morning so I gave him some motrin. Needless to say by the time I got him to the Dr. his fever was down and they just told me it was a virus and had to run it's course. The nurse ask me if I wanted him to have the flu vaccine and I told her to go ahead with it. The nasal mist is the one he wanted. We went home and by that night his temp went to 103 and stayed up for 2 or 3 days. I called and talked to the nurse and she told me it was something that had to run its course. He missed that whole week of school with high fevers and flu symptoms. It went through the whole family. My husband missed a week of work with it also. Have any of you experienced this with the Flu vaccine????

They usually won't give the vaccine if you have a fever or have been running one. They always ask that question here. When I took my flue shot in the fall I had a slight sore throat. Nothing ever came of it and it was over with in 2 days. It didn't get worse but I wasn't running fever either.

I asked the nurse about him being fevered and her response was "He's not fevered now", but I did have to sign a release for them to give it to him. I asked would there be any side effects and she told me he would probably run a fever with it, so I learned the hard way. Never again will I agree to one at any time that he is already sick. That was an awful ordeal and now my other grandson has the flu (or whatever it was). Thanks for your comment, I will know next time to just say no. lesson learned.
