I think they are great if you've got someone you want to talk to who also has one. I really rarely use mine because I'm more prone to pick up the phone and actually call someone than to spend all night PMing them.

I dont have a webcam but I think they are good gadgets to have.

i think it depends on the use of it..i mean i use my cam for family and few friends i know but left my country to keep in touch.. but not for everyone;. it depends on how u use it and with who..

Every thing has its positive as well an negative effects.. its on us in what way we wanna use that thing.. i guess webcam is good..specially for those ppl who have family and friends around the world... webcam is best for them... like this way they can always see each other atleast which gives happiness and is a way of keeping in touch. So i say if u utilize it in a positive way web cam is really good. I my self use webcam.
