What type of ice-cream do you like better... hand dipped or soft serve ice cream?I love 'em both it would be hard to choose between the two.

Hello zeloguuy, I like the soft serve alot more then the hand dipped. I even bought a soft serve Ice cream machine so I could have soft served ice cream at home. Everyone in my family loves it and they also prefer the soft serve over the hand dipped.

Wow that is awesome. Your own soft-serve machine. I don't know if the wife would go for that or not but that is just... cool.

They have smaller ones for household use. I think they are great. They are a hit at parties(for young children) But I use mine alot especially in the summer months we have to keep the cones stocked up.

We have an ice cream maker and what my wife does is to put in the freezer and then she doesn't let it set all the way and voila... soft-serve.

Think I like the hand dipped because there is a larger variety.

I would agree with that until I went to Europe and they had some freaky flavors and I guess you would call it hand-dipped but it was a completely different texture to the ice cream in the US... more of a soft serve texture. But you are right, hand-dipped does have a lot more flavors. Chubby Hubby Cherry Garcia Where can you find those in a soft-serve machine.

They called it glacee (actually spelled glacier) which is French for ice cream (creme d'glacee). I would think the gelato is an Italian form of what I had and in fact the direct translation of gelato is ice cream. But yes as you know it's different.

Are those the gelatos? Those do have a creamer texture than our ice cream & some wild flavors. I'd still call them hand dipped tho, since they don't come out a machine. Nothing against the machine stuff, that's good too.

I like them both and they both definitely have their good qualities about them. Sometimes soft serve is nice because it's creamier than hand dipped. Hand dipped is nice though when you want that sort of 'homey' feel to your ice cream and are looking for something different.

I think that is the consensus is that soft serve gives that nice creamy milky feel to it whereas the hand-dipped gives so many more flavors... they need some soft-serve with chunks. Which... is why I love McDonald's flurrys. They have bits of M&Ms in a soft serve ice cream. It is the only thing I will eat from a fast-food restaurant.

I definitely prefer hand dipped, and get it when I can! I especially love custard!

Both. Depends on where we are going. Dairy Queen I like soft-serve but there is one ice cream shop that actually makes all their ice cream from scratch and it's all hand-dipped so that's an extra special treat for me.

There is nothing wrong with Rocky Road... love that ice cream... almost an 'everything' ice cream. I am not a big chocolate fan but Cookies and Cream... any day of the week. Great answer.

I prefer soft serve ice cream over hand dipped.but I will eat both. I like the creamy texture of the soft serve. I like the variety of flavor choices in the hand dipped though.

I think that is what it comes down to... texture over variety. And of course anyone that loves ice cream will take it however they can get it!

I looooove soft serve. whenever I have scooped ice cream, I let it sit and melt a little so it gets to the same consistency of soft serve, lol :]

There you go! The best of both worlds... you can get all the flavor of the hand-dipped ice cream and the consistancy of soft-serve. Awesome!

I really like the soft serve it is so easy to eat. I do like hand dipped but I usually will eat that in a bowl and have the soft serve in a ice cream cone.

Both are good. My son went out for a corn dog and brought me home a mini-banana split it was very good. It had soft serve ice cream vanilla, chocolate syrup,a cherry, couple of strawberries and of course 1/2 banana sliced. Oh and whipped cream it was reallly good to be so small. If I were hungry 2 of them would have been nice.

That sounds really good. Too late it is too late for me to go out and get me some ice cream 'cause you just made me hungry!
