I never saw that unresolved discussion in the menu. Probably because it was at the bottom. I have now gone through and mark a best responce on discussion that I concider closed. I also went through and rated all participants.
Do you do the same thing with your discussions? How many unresolved do you still have and what are your criteria for rating people?

The resolving of discussions by choosing a best response depends, if you feel that someone has given something worth rewarding on their posts then it's up to you to choose which is which.
Most of the times, I only resolve my posts if it doesn't receive any responses at all. But the shortest date of resolving it would be around a week, especially when I received 10 or more responses that I can choose who to mark as the BEST responder.
While for the rating, I always rate comments, responses and posts that I participate at or start. As long as the post is not rude or offensive, they deserve a "+" for me and leave those who posts nothing but just senseless words..

I usually make sure that they fall into these criteria to receive a postive rating.
1) They wrote about the subject.
2) They wrote 3 or more sentences. (This is subjective to how well I wrote my discussion. If I left it open for a short answer then this does not apply. That would be my failt not theirs.)
3) They actually add to the discussion as opposed to just repeating someone or saying "I agree with you"
Granted I KNOW some of my post have not been good. But by me judging this way it has made my responces better over time.

I actually haven't noticed that you could rate participants....I had never really looked at that before but I am willing to start trying...I actually think that it would be better if people started rating each other because it could encourage people to leave more responses if people say that their answer is good or rate them well...So i will defiently start rating more and more users and I will also try and spread the word around that this can be done so that more people will start doing this all of the time!

I think rating people are a great way to reward those who have taken the time to join your discussion. Look at my comments on the post below and you can see how I rate people. Thanks for your comments.
