My Engagement Story

Some of you know that I am recently engaged and many of you would love to hear what actually happened on my "engagement day" *smiles*, here comes the story: It was my birthday (mid-January). My fiance and me were going to malls and have dinner. It was just a very simple day because I couldn't think of something more "special" that I wished to do. Then when we were driving home, my fiance told me that he got a surprise for me at home (and I thought it was a birthday present). When we arrived home, I immediately rushed to the fireplace to get some warmth because it was kind of cold outside. Then he kneel down in front of me and proposed. I was really surprised and of course I said yes. Then he said, "the reason why I didn't propose outside was because I forgot to bring the ring with me!" He said it in such an embarrassed way that I couldn't help but laughing (I did found the idea very funny). It's "romantic" and hilarious at the same time!

He deliberately didn't bring the ring so that he could surprise you at home. It's nothing like a warm cosy fireplace to bring out the warmth of the relationship, creating a romantic setting indeed to pop that all important question!! So you see, it was all well conceived, and his embarrassment for forgetting the ring was just playacting only. I know, because he told me so...LOL.

Hello wondericequeen, That's truly romantic *laughs* Oh, I feel sad at the same time ... sad for a good reason: at last, you found your man! Very fortunate for him to find a good reason for not proposing you in public. A little bit shy maybe...and found a good reason for that *laughs* Mine was quite a rush rush matter. Oh, not going to tell you here. Anyway, it's already over *smiles*

It doesn't really matter in public or not really, because marriage is between two people anyway. I wouldn't want the cheering crowd to be there when he proposed *laughs*.

Hello wondericequeen, Yes, you are right. But when you are married to someone, you have to accept the whole people in his life and get attached to them too, indirectly. Ahh...I am lucky that I live far away from my in-laws *laughs*

The story is kind of cute. Sometimes a bit of spontaneous behaviour makes things much better, and your future husband has that, no doubt. I wish you the best for your future marriage.

Your fiance is very funny. Actually he could make other better reasons, but he chose to tell you the truth that he forgot to bring the ring. I think he is honest:) That's an unforgettable moment for you. This story is very sweet:)

I like funny proposals. My hubby's was so funny I could hardly stop laughing long enough to say yes. I kept him waiting quite a while because every time I saw that cute little boy-like embarrassed yet expectant look, I started laughing all over again. Congratulations and I do hope you two have at least as many wonderful years together as we have and then some. We are planning to have many more ourselves.

*laughs* Yes, that's the look on his face! I was laughing too! I don't know, I saw other brides to be are like having tears in their eyes, but I was laughing! I still find it very funny! Yes, I definitely hope that our "marriage" would last as yours! It's just wonderful to be married to one person for a long time (it's rare nowadays!).

oh my gosh, that is so sweet. I wish my husband had had some kind of romantic thing planned when he proposed, but he took me out to his truck that had 13 roses sitting inside it with a box and a card. the card said will you marry me and i of course said yes, but i guess i always dreamed of being somewhere romantic and him getting down on one knee. Congrats again and God bless

usually those proposals done with a touch of comedy are those that work well... the comedy is a sign of sincerity and it's very natural. tell your bf i said good job! and congratulations to both of u... wish u well

hi wondericequeen ! oh that is so cute! hahaha your fiance deserves a hug and nice kiss....hihihi he is so cute... our engagement story wasn't something like that...nothing close to that but equally meaningful... it was christmas day, nothing fancy...i just asked my then boyfriend and now my husband to join us for lunch. he came just before 12 noon. i am living with my parents so there is not much privacy. we went into my room just before the meal and there he popped the question. there wasn't even a ring. the ring came much later...lol i cried and cried and he had to ask me twice coz he said i haven't answered him the first time he asked...lol so that was it. and now i am happily married to him...take care and God bless you! hope you have a happy and blessed marriage! :-)

*laughs* Yours is so sweet! Indeed, the ring he gave me was from his mother, "my" ring needs to come later too! But it doesn't better. It's really the thought that counts!

He proposed by the fireplace, well, he'll always have a warm place in your heart that way! My husband proposed in front of his Father (his Dad had cancer) so that he could share the moment. It was also indoors. Much more comfy than outdoors on a cold day. Good thing he forgot it at home and not somewhere at the Mall or at dinner. He could have spent a week looking for it. Better to forget it at home. Hope he has as wonderful a sense of humor as you have. May all your future moments be filled with love and laughter.

Congratulations!!!
