An old Question.

Here's an old question that I have heard a long time ago and you guys might have heard this as well. There's this huge barrel with lots of things inside. With the large amount of content, you are unable to lift it due its heavy weight. Now you were told to lift the barrel. You are only allowed to put something on the barrel and take nothing from it. What would you put on the barrel to make it lighter?

hiyee ratyz5! i must tell you i always look forward to your posts. well here's my answer... if the barrel needs lifting and condition is there should be nothing taken from it -- i'd probaby tie balloons on it till it is enough to float and very easy for me to move. how's that for a weird answer.

Wow, you really do? That's nice to hear. I hope I could translate the other riddles we have here in our country to post here in myLot ^_^ Now thinking on your weird answer... A hot air balloon might get it to lift but, you have to get it into the basket first. You really have to put something to the barrel, not tie anything to it. Your solution is quite possible though.

if I put enough water on the barrel, it will be lighter to lift, once the room is filled high enough. all the best urban

That's a big IF.. man, where would you get that amount of water to flood the place? What if it was at an open area?

i would tip it over on its side and roll it wherever it needs to go. Or I could use a forklift or crane to lift it up. HMMM... let me know what the answer is becuase i'm curious now. Thanks!

Tipping it over doesn't count as well as using a forklift or crane ^_^; Check the post with the best response icon ^_^ Thanks for posting by the way. :)

You'd take the risk of being brunt just to lift the barrel? Who knows if the contents may be flamable? There is still a safer way ^_^

Then the dog would definitely take things away from the barrel which already breaks the conditions of taking nothing away from the barrel.. Thanks for the response though ^_^

This is not the correct answer. But I would like to tie a helium filled baloon on the barrel. Then I can drift it from place to place.
