Well, now I at least know rose bushes grow out here in the southwest. I hope yours recover. My rose bushes survived some fairly cruel winters back east. We had to mulch every fall as well. Haven't seen any mulch used around here. I also had mildew and other such problems. How do the roses stand the intense heat in July and August? Seems like they would wilt? ....Whit

yup they do grow nicely I have had to put mine in partcail shade tho and water them good in the summer But my neighbors have real beautifull roses that face the morning sun. The one I am worried about is one I have babied for 6 years that I have been at this house and planted it. and they year my hubby passed away we had blooms 5 inches across and I am looking for that pic for I took one . I will have to trim them soon before they start putting on new growth and I have a rose vitimin I put on them. MOst places that sell rose bushes I like Lowes for they replace the ones that die and I have one I have to take back and plant it in a different spot. also wil olant my tomatoes in partcail shade this year and see if I get tomatoes vines do great here lol. where southwest are ya in?

I am a newbie in Las Vegas. We moved out here for the climate and a teaching job. I think I could do patio tomatoes. I have enough houseplants to keep me happy right now until the weather breaks. And I hope that special rosebush blooms this year for you - if you ever find the pic, please post it. I'd love to see those oversize blooms. Whit

So you were having your own kind of 'freeze' even though you are down south. How did your rose bushes make out? Is it getting any warmer there yet? We are slowly climbing to more normal temperatures here. It has been sunnier, with less wind and sitting in and around minus 16 Celcius. Not warm by your standards...but certainly a lot better than the minus 49 and 39 we had earlier this month. Spring is not that far away...at least that is what I keep reminding myself! "Warming" regards from your chilly pals up North. Raia

I see you are having the crazy weather too. I live in the mid-west and it is crazy here. I hope your rose bushes survive this crazy weather. It would be a shame for years of work on the roses to be ruined. Good Luck!
