Have you seen the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy? If not, do you want to see them and why or why not? If you've seen the trilogy, which of the three is your favorite and why? If you haven't seen all three movies, which ones have you seen? Of the movies you've seen, which do you like more and why?

i've seen the trilogy. i think the best for me is the last one even if i don't really like the ending. i just love all Johnny Depp's parts there especially the part where he was doing a monologue talking with himself and fighting with himself over a nut. ^__^;; and then i liked the part where he was acting as the God of a certain tribe and he looked like his eyes were open but actually it was shut and eyes were painted on his eyelids. all the scenes there were so funny. ^__^

I like when Captain Sparrow licks the crab to see if it's something else to eat, and then he chucks it as far as he can only to find it's right back where it was before he threw it a minute later. The confused look on his face after that is priceless!

The third movie is probably my most favorite also. I really enjoyed reading your response about that particular movie because I remember all of those parts you menioned! I agree that Johnny Depp does an excellent job (almost too good - lol!) at that particular character. My favorite part of the third movie is when Captain Jack Sparrow's ship gets moved by all the crabs. I also like the parts you described. Thanks for your response. It was fun to read and I could definitely picture the parts of the movie you described!

Funny you would mention the Matrix trilogy because I haven't seen any of those...yet. I've heard they were all good and have been curious to see them even right after they came out. My boyfriend owns them, so I'll have to borrow them from him and watch them. We should discuss again after I see the Matrix trilogy and you see the Pirates trilogy. Sound like a good plan? (LOL) I appreciate your response regardless of the fact you've not seen them yet!

Although I love them all, the first is the best because it was the most original and it was first! The second two were just taking the story to another level, and while they were also good, the first was the most exciting for me.

The first movie was definitely very exciting! It's because it was the "new thing." There aren't many pirate movies out there, and Disney did a great job picking actors and actresses to play the parts. After the first movie, the actors and actresses really got comfortable in their characters. I think all the movies where good and the third had an excellent conclusion. I agree with you, though. There are many things that make the first one unique. And it's like you said, "it was first!" That gives it an advantage.

The first for sure. The story was simple and linear and the characters were good. In the second is nice there are too much things put in. The third is unwatchable.

Sometimes sequels to movies as well and trilogies seem like the writers were trying too hard to make them as good as the first when they create the plot when they can't possibly make them as good as the first. It's a hard call because so many times this is the case. The sequels are never as good as the first. If I analyze this particular trilogy, the plot was really good in the first, but I don't know that they transitioned between movies very well. They're all about the same length, over two hours. That takes a lot to keep someone's interest for that long. The first was very good at doing so. I don't know what it was in particular about them that made the trilogy as a whole so choppy! I'll have to go back and watch them again to see if that makes it any better. I've seen the first a couple times, but I haven't watched the other two over yet. Thanks for your response and for being honest! (LOL)

I can definitely see where you're coming from. I liked the first movie also. I like all three, but that would bother me not to finish the third! That's just the way I am. Once I start a movie, I have to finish it no matter how bad it is. (LOL) I'm glad you have a favorite. The second was very hard to follow and the third seemed to get worse. At the end, though, everything was ok and it all kind of wrapped up nicely. I hope you are able to tolerate watching the entire third movie sometime. (LOL) Thanks for your input!

The first was by far the best. The later films had interesting music, but the first just had much better back-handed dealings, and the charachters came through as more rounded and fully fleshed out. The other two were enjoyable, but not as much so.

I'm glad you mentioned the music. That's something that hadn't yet been addressed in this discussion yet. I really like how it's continuous with the same basic theme throughout all three movies. The music is a key part in the trilogy also. The majority of response have leaned toward your view on the movies themselves because most people said they like the first one the best also! Although I don't disagree with you, I really like the last movie the best...so far. I've only seen all of them through once, but perhaps my ideas would change if I watched them all again. I really appreciate your input, Zevabe!

I have watched all three and I think the first one is the best, the second comes a close call but the third one I didn't enjoy at all, mainly because it was ruined by Calypso's voice I couldn't understand a single word that she said. It was a weird and whacky film and I just felt it didn't blend itself to the others, and could have been done much much better. Most films the first instalment is always the best and certainly with Pirates, however I think Johnny Depp played a fantastic role and any film he plays in you know it's just going to be excellent, he excels all the way through and he is very funny and versatile.

I agree that when it comes to movies, first time is the charm. I really enjoyed the third movie because I think it wrapped everything up fairly nicely. However, I think the basis of my enjoying it would be because they chose the best of the best as far as actors go. The actors were amazing in all three films and in developing their characters. Johnny Depp makes the movie, no matter what movie he starrs in. He's just amazing. I also realized what you were saying about Calypso's voice! That really bothered me and made the movie choppy at certain parts. How disappointing! I didn't like her character either. It creeped me out! The movie would've been fine without her and Davy Jones' secret relationship. I thought that was a little strange. For the most part, thanks to good ol' Jack Sparrow, I enjoyed the movies in their entirety. I'll have to watch them again sometime too. Thanks for sharing. I love your attention to detail. You really do sink your teeth into these discussions and I like that.

Hi Jessica! I have all three movies on dvd. I liked them all, but I do have to confess that my favorite is the first one. I think the reason that I like the first one best is because it was new and we were meeting the characters for the first time. I loved that Elizabeth Swan just wasn't what everyone expected of her and Will Turner was so sweet and just insisted that you walk away from the experience with a little bit of a crush on him, even if he wasn't your type at all. And Captain Jack.... my goodness... Johnny Depp is so fantastically over the top in the role it's hard not to want to just walk around saying "argghhh.... ahoy me hearties!!! Yo, ho ho and a bottle a rum!" after watching him! He makes it so much fun... and you have to wonder what's going on inside that twisted little head of his. I still remember, as a child, going to Disney World and riding the Pirates of The Caribbean ride and looking at it all in such wonder. These movies just brought that all back to me with a vengeance. That's one of the things that I love about movies and the wonderful advances that they're making with cgi. Computer generated imagery is making things possible that we never could have seen or done otherwise and I love seeing what things that I could only imagine might look like before vividly realistic in front of my eyes.

Hi, Dutchess! It's great to hear from you and to receive your comical response. It was such a pleasure and a chuckle to read. It brought back all the wonderful memories that went with watching the "Pirates" trilogy. I'm so jealous that you have all three movies on DVD! I had them on my Christmas list, but I didn't get them. :( I suppose I'll have to wait until my birthday because I refuse to buy them for myself. It seems kind of selfish to me. (LOL) In order to accurately comment on your response, I'm going to have to insert some of my favorite excerpts from your answer. "Will Turner was so sweet and just insisted that you walk away from the experience with a little bit of a crush on him, even if he wasn't your type at all." Interesting how he had that effect on my also after the first movie! He's such a heartbreaker. (LOL) Keira was a lucky gal in those movies, wasn't she? Here's another one I loved, "Johnny Depp is so fantastically over the top in the role it's hard not to want to just walk around saying 'argghhh....ahoy me hearties!!! Yo, ho ho and a bottle a rum!' after watching him!" You hit the nail on the head. I really think he makes the movies what they are. That's one HUGE advantage Disney had in making them. They chose the BEST actors for this one. I think they made a whole load of money on the trilogy, too, and rightly so. I could go on, but I just wanted to tell you that your response was so enjoyable to read and I could relate to every bit of it! I absolutely love movies as you do. Imagining things and then seeing them brought to life is what it's all about!

curse of the black pearl was the best part, as it was with a new story and other two parts very confusing and they just seemed they forcibly made to mint money in the name of black pearl

The additional two movies were a lot about making money when the producers found out the first was so successful. They picked excellent actors to play the parts, but it's true. When it all boils down to it, it's about the money. I love what you said how the other two movies were "forcibly made to mint money in the name of Black Pearl." You have a very good point!

I'm glad to hear you've seen the complete trilogy. I liked the third the most, then the first, then the second the least. Confusing? (LOL) I definitely know what you mean by the third movie, though. It was so hard to follow because they kept throwing in new actors and actors from the second and first movies, then some would die and more would be added to the scene. Yikes! It was hard to watch the third one, too, because I was eating and almost choked at certain parts! (LOL) Thanks for your input. It was funny to read. :)

The third one is one of my favorites too. I'm glad you liked the trilogy. A lot of people say they're hard to follow, but if you own them and have the ability to watch them whenever you want, I'm sure you pick up on things you didn't notice the first time around. That makes me happy you like them. I'm hoping to get the complete trilogy this spring for my birthday. (LOL) Thanks for your response!

My favorite is definitely the first one! It was really unique, had great characters and it was hilarious. The second was good, but it was mostly a preview for the 3rd. The 3rd was really good in my opinion... it was more epic than the others, definitely and cool to watch. But I love the first

The third was my favorite too. I suppose it's because the last movie of any trilogy or series has a lasting impression on me. The three movies were a little hard to follow the first time around, but I'll probably understand more of it the next time I watch them. I also think the third concluded the trilogy quite nicely. Depp did a phenomenal job in all three movies and I think he made them as fun as they were; it wouldn't have been the same without him. Thanks for your input!

Bring me that horizon - Pirates of the Caribbean
I have seen all three at the movies and also own all three on DVD as I am an unashamed Johnny Depp fan. To be honest I would find it hard to pick my favourite of the three but I guess the first one is probably my favourite.

Thanks so much for posting the picture of Captain Jack Sparrow. I'm a Johnny Depp fan too! He's so funny and is always good no matter what movie he plays in. Amazing. I'm glad you liked the movies. I really can't choose a favorite either since I've only seen them once all the way through. Of course, I'm planning on getting the trilogy soon...for my birthday next month, perhaps. It's a great collection to have and I'd most certainly watch them over and over again. You never get tired of Depp! (LOL) Thanks so much for sharing. I'm glad there's another fan out there!!

The fisrt movie in most cases is always the best of course. For me I really enjoyed the th first one but also enjoyed part 2 & 3. Alot of people just didn't like where the story went. I liked them all. You had to keep up with alot and the third movie refrenced the first movie alot and tried to tie up loose ends. Alot of people didn't get it for it was kinda hard to follow at times. My advice is to watch them all back to back and it is much easier to keep up with the plot twists that go everywhere. My girlfriend and I did this as each movie came out and we were not disappointed at all. Good movie trilogy as a whole.

I can most definitely understand where you're coming from. If you don't think the plot is compelling and if you don't care for the previews, you shouldn't waste your time watching it. I would encourage you to see the movies sometime because I think most people like them...at least most people like the first movie. I have the same feelings as you do toward these movies. The first one had to be good enough to get us to want to watch the other ones. If we didn't like the first, there would be no sense in bringing out two more! (LOL) I also agree with you on the last one. I like the last movie, but it left the producers completely open to bringing out yet another sequel to the series. What do you think? I think they left in open in case they wanted to bring out another. I wish they would. It would answer a lot of our questions, and Johnny Depp did a fantastic job. I could stand to see more of him on the big screen. (LOL) Thanks for your interesting response!

You can just tell when someone is a good actor because he or she can be in so many movies and still be a different person. Johnny Depp is definitely one of my favorite actors because he brightens up the screen no matter what he's in. He usually plays comical characters, but at times he plays a rather serious person. It's neat to see either way.

I don't think that they will bring out a new one as the others were brought out in quite quick succession to one another and once a series as reached three they tend to get worse. I love films that Johnny Depp are in as he is such as interesting actor and makes all is characters odd but different.

I'm glad you've seen all of them. I'd be a little disappointed if you'd seen the third one and not one (or both) of the others! That's just the way I am, I guess. I have to watch movies in order. I could've gone to see Spiderman 3 a few months ago when it first came out, but I'd only seen the first one before that and not the second. I have to see them in order! So...I guess I have to go watch the second of that trilogy before I can see the third (I heard the last Spiderman was really good). Anyway, the third Pirates movie is my favorite also. I don't know if you'd agree, but I think they left it open in case they want to make another movie! Would you agree? What are your thoughts on this? It's just a thought I had since Jack Sparrow started all over again looking for the treasure because he was the one with the map at the end. I suppose they could make a really good movie series out of this. Johnny Depp did a great job. I think this trilogy is his time to shine. Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you and I have the same favorite!

I have seen all three of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and they are all totally awesome, and I would have to say that its hard to pick which one is my favorite but I would say it comes down to a tie between the first one and the third one,and most likely out of the two I would pick the third one because I like the action in it.

If I'd responded to my own discussion, that's exactly what I would've said too. The first one was great, but the third one was slightly better just because it's the last one and has to wrap everything up in a neat little package. Of course, if you want my opinion, I think the producers totally left it open to creating additional movies...not that they actually would, but there's still some mystery at the end of it. I mean, after all, they started the whole process over again with Sparrow looking for treasure by the end of it! I'd watch all of them again in a heartbeat and can't wait to own the entire trilogy! I loved your response. Keep up the good work, my friend.
