Maybe you should try a box cake such as betty crocker or even any store brand. They are super easy to make come in tons of flavors and just frost it with some frosting out of a can. They sell all kinds of little sprinkles and decorative stuff in the baking aisle to make your mom's cake lovely. It is so sweet of you to want to do that for her.
