Worst day in modern history?

When does modern history start in your book? The worse day would have to be the start of WW2. You cannot beat a World War. In more recent times... the 9/11 did mark the start of war with terrorism... and that did had a profond effect economically on the Western World. It is probably why the world is now in its biggest financial crisis since WW2. Nobody seem to have asked where the billions spent on security to protect each country... did come from. Nor does anyone ask where the money came from to fight that war in Iraq. If the terrorists manage to send us broke by forcing us to fight them... Who is the winner? From an Australia perspective... The recession we had to have in 1991 did change the face of Australia. The bankrupcies and the demands for productivity which followed made Australia a tougher place and made its people tougher. Not a good thing.

Definitely 9/11/2001...no explanation needed...

Hello Dear, generally the WW2 was the worst,but for me the last War for Freedom here in Croatia was the worst thing in whole modern history!From movies, books, stories and etc. i know all about WW2,but it cant be compared with my experience during war in my lifetime!Have nice Day and Regards Silvana

I say that the worst day in modern history would be if the electricity would go out, for the hole day and all electronic devises suddenly stopped working including gas and water. All fast food and restauraunts would not be working and closed and then suddenly it starts raining so hard you cant evan see your hand... something like that Sorry its a little random but think about it... something like that would be the worst day of modern history!
