I got my income tax return today.

I filed it on January 19th. I efiled for free online. I got a lot less this year than in the past. I changed my dependents at my work to 3 last year. I read in a magazine once that if you are getting a big refund at tax time, then too much is being taken out. Why not get that money each payday instead of at tax time. So I changed it. Have you gotten yours yet? Did you get the amount you expected?

I just filed mine this morning online. I am mailing in my state instead of doing it online cause they wanted $29.95 to do my state. The federal was free. I am getting what I expected to get. I can't wait to get it back. Most of it is going to end up going to the oral surgeon so I can get my wisdom teeth cut out though.

I received less than I expected too. I done mine online also. My 16 year old owes over $100 and she works in a restuarant but not getting tips just straight pay. I think that I am lucky that I am getting some back.

I haven't gotten my taxes back yet, but I did get them filed this week. I used one of the efile programs and done it myself also. I am getting less back because I had earned income that didn't have taxes taken out, but at least I am getting a refund. You are right about changes your dedcuctions. It would be best if we can get that money as we earn it and put it in savings and earn interest on it.

Yup. I still filed the easy way this year, but starting next year I will be doing it long form. I will get more back then. You can write off so much stuff. Especially when you are running a home business.

Yes I'm getting back my usual..about 5grand. A few years ago on the radio I heard about changing your dependents on the W-4, how you can do it as many times as you like in the year to have extra money at the present. And since then I've always claimed high.Hey, the way I see it, my kids need the money now. Heck, who even knows if I or they will be living at tax time, you know what I mean? Afterall, we are not guaranteed tomorrow.

We always get back about the same every year. I like getting big chunk of change at the end of the year instead of a little bit at a time on paychecks. My husband only claims 1 and I claim 0 then at the end of the year we claim 4 and it really helps get a big return that way.
