Cupcakes seem to be the latest fad -

On one of the morning shows today, there was a rep from a cupcake store here in town. A bakery that makes nothing but cupcakes. Now here this! $40.00 a dozen, delivery extra! Now they were quite nice with all kinds of extra goodies on top sometimes, but wow! In the movie star news items, you will see how oh, this one brought in cupcakes for the crew, how nice is that. I'm thinking oh, okay how special but they didn't bake them and a cupcake is very nice but special? Well now the cupcake has been elevated! I remember baking cupcakes for the kids. I remember baking cupcakes in ice cream cones and thinking I was quite clever. I never put a chocolate covered strawberry on top of one of mine though.

lol My kids love my cup cakes...I would NEVER pay 40 for a dozen cup cakes when I can make my own. My daughter loves it when I make a cake out of them in a shape...Very cool. But i have heard of them in a ice cream cone but never tried it. I will have to for sure.

I just bought my sister a cupcake kit with a silicone pan, spatula, and cookbook...plus we just took a cake decorating course so maybe we should cash in and start selling them ourselves!

Well, let's see. How many cupcakes can you make at a time with this kit. With the cake decorating course you're on your way. If you live in a big city, who knows? I'm not versed in marketing strategies, but I just looked up the website for this cupcake bakery. You can take a look if only for curiousity. I can't cut and paste yet on here so here it is: http://www.cupcakelanebakery.com I hope they appreciate the free publicity. Whit

Fad or not it is still just a cupcake when you start baking. Yes there are very clever people that can do amazing things artistic wise, my mother was like that years ahead of the rest I recall as a small girl that we had a blue and silver Christmas tree, and yet it wasn't until I was in my late 20's that they became popular. I was a cook for many of my working years and worked with some very good chefs, but they may have been able to carve a mermaid out of a square of lard but I could cook a meal that was their equal in taste. so we all have out talents and it is just finding yours , but I will tell you that most of the fun is in the discovery process,

Wow, that's pretty steep for a cupcake. I know I get irritated if I go into a coffee shop and they have one for $2.50. But $40.00 bucks a dozen and you're even buying in bulk. Unbelievable.

I know what you mean. I've eliminated coffee shops from my habits lately. I got so irritated at the price of coffee there and if I want a little something to go with the coffee, you're talking putting out more money than I care to spend. All these articles they put in the magazines are always saying eliminate the takeout coffee and add it up at the end of the month. Now if I could stop thinking about my mocha.... Oh, cupcakes, that's right. Must be some serious money around this city to spend like that.

Wow and I thought the grocery store was ripping people off selling cupcakes for $9 a dozen. $40 for a dozen cupcakes is absurd. I don't think I would care for a chocolate covered strawberry on it. I wonder how much they charge for delivery! I hate to hear that quote.

I should call up the store for the heck of it and ask about delivery. I have to admit when the cupcakes were shown in a decorated box, each one decorated differently, it was exceptional. This would probably be a nice gift to send to someone at work to share with co-workers I think. Wouldn't that be quite a hit? I tell you though, if my husband spent $40 on cupcakes to send to me at work, i don't know how pleased I would be...maybe or maybe not. Whit
