refrigerator door anyway? Some folks are really touchy about boundaries. I pretty much have to be told to go into my friends' fridges. I don't feel free to pop in so to speak. My kids had friends over and a couple of these kids would just open my fridge to see what I had in there. On the first or second time over, not a lifelong friend of theirs now. I'm like WHoa there. I've seen a few fridges that have had me standing there mouth open in awe. Super organized, well stocked wonders. Those are the refrigerators that I would think would be welcome for perusal. And, of course, the fridge in my kid's apartment has me in awe on quite a different level. Do you mind having non-family in your fridge or kitchen?

I don't go into anyones fridge without permission, but i really don't care if they go into mine. My sister-in-law has the don't care outlook too. To her basically if you are in her house and you want something, go get it.

This makes me think of some friends we had years ago. Very laid back and generous folks. I was over at their house quite a few times before it dawned on me that they didn't offer a drink or snack or whatever. They actually expected you to go get yourself something. Would have been nice to been informed that they felt that way - evidently they were so laid back they didn't think to tell? Anyway, things went very well after that.

As far as my own conduct, I never go into another's fridge without permission or being invited to go there to look inside or to get something. I just won't do it. Now, I am a very laid-back person and I usually invite guests to have something whenever they come over. Of course, I would hopefulyl expect people would have enough respect not to go into someone's fridge the first or second time they go in my place. But I also am very inviting and usually tell people to help themselves in the fridge. I guess to answer your question I don't mind having non-family or friends in the kitchen, but with limits, of course.

You sound a lot like me in this regard. I just can't do anything in someone's house without permission. I have issues using the bathroom for pete's sake. When someone is a little forward with my belongings or kitchen (and not in a bad way), I sometimes think I should feel flattered that they feel so comfortable at our place.

I think it depends on who it is. I have some friends who just know that they are so welcome and I feel the same when I am at their house. Then again, if a kid comes in and has dirty hands or something, I hope their parents would catch them ahead of time.

I love a friend that makes me feel that welcome in their home. I am also extremely easy going about my place, so no problem there. I also have some friends who are very nice folks, and I think they definitely have issues with folks in their "personal" space. So I have a plesant time at their home, but using the bathroom is the most adventurous I get over there?:)) Whit
