Helpdesk - always busy!!

yesterday morning i needed some help with getting a computer set up. i called helpdesk and they said someone will attend to me soon. but there was no one, so i took a walk around and came back an hour later and no one had come. so i called again to say that i called an hour ago and there was still no one so i couldn't get work done. then they said, ok we will check and call you back. and there was more twiddling of thumbs until they called about 2 hours later to say that someone can only come after lunch! at 215pm! which means that the whole morning was wasted! how have your experiences with helpdesks been? do you find it tough to get to them, or even for them to send an engineer down to assist you even when it is very urgent? just needed to rant and get this off my chest.

Oh, I know that feeling! Yesterday I had to call my cell phone company and couldn't get anything but the recording telling me to press this number and that number but none of them had anything to do with the reason I was calling. I finally just pushed any number and the rep who finally came on transferred me to someone who could help me. I gave him an earful...lol....

i have had a few times when help desk have been very fast in their response to problems but i have also had a bad time with them .But in all i think the thing is that we are all human and are subject to some form s of imperfection no matter how good we are in our duties.The one i hate most is when you call the emergency service unit and they have to transfer you from one city to the other making a mess of the whole process or when you call the police service and they send someone who eventually go to the wrong address
