What do you get a person who has everything they want?

Would you be upset if you planned on buying someone something for a special occasion such as a holiday or their birthday then a month before the event the person went out and bought it for themselves? Would you be upset if you planned on buying someone something and you brought that item up in conversation to see if the person would want to have it and then the person told you that you could go and buy it for them? What do you buy for people who have everything they want? What do you buy for someone who goes out and buys anything they might need for themselves? This is driving me crazy. Until last year I never celebrated Valentines Day and my sweetie isn't big on celebrating his own birthday but I have racked my brain for days trying to come up with something to get him and I am still as clueless now as I was when I started. HELP!!!

Hmmmmm this is a hard one do you have anyone to watch the kids? If so plan a romantic night out. Dinner and then a hotel room where you can purchase something from Victoria Secrets or Fredericks of Hollywood! I'm sure he wouldn't have that ... LOL!! And yes I can feel your pain I might have wanted to hit him over the head with a frying pan for buying what I was going to get him. LOL!! and then to say ok you can get the for me KILL would be on my brain .. I hate that about men they are never easy to shop for . That is why I like gift cards. When in doubt get one for his favorite store and maybe a couple small things. to go with. LOL!! Good luck.

CHOCOLATE. You absolutely cannot go wrong with chocolate unless by some strange phenomenom neither of you likes it. If he doesn't, you get to scoff the lot. heheheheheh.

Wow, this is a tough one. I try to give something that keeps on giving (like a plant) or something truly unique (like naming a star after someone), but I don't always succeed. You don't mention how long you've been together...perhaps something that you make (like chocolates or dinner or dessert)?

Oh I know this feeling sooooo well! My sweetie has everything and when there is something he wants he just buys it. Even if he doesn't know he wants something until he sees it on clearence (his favorite section of the store). It makes it really hard for gift giving. Why not get a small photo album (5" x 6") and put in pictures of times you and he have spent together such as vacations, holidays, or even photos of the two of you together at the birth of your child or someone's wedding. Put the pictures on the right side of the page and wite a little note on the left side of what the picture means to you. Like a picture of you and he at a friend's wedding on the right and a note on the left saying "Dave & Kelly's wedding, May 3003, Each time I see this picture it reminds me of how I felt on our wedding day. Who would know I could love you more than I did then." Special moments really bring back memories and what a better memory than how much love you two have shared for so long. You could also plan a special day just for him. A loving note on the bathroom mirror or in his sock drawer telling him how much you love him, followed by his favorite breakfast. Then off to do something he likes to do in his spare time (bowling, a car show, etc). Dinner is again one of his favorite dishes and afterword a movie he may have always wanted to see (with you snuggled by his side sharing homemade popcorn). Of course it is always nice if you can ship the kids off so you can be alone (that is if you have kids living at home). Just a quiet simple day together without a care in the world.

Last year I got my man a personalized pocket watch. I know it sounds corny, but he likes pocket watches. I went to an online personalization store... can't remember the name off hand, but they had tons of different gift ideas, maybe you could find one there you think he'll like. He loved the watch. I had it engraved to say: beyond the measure of time I will always love you and my name and the year good luck finding just the right gift!

You can try giving him something personalized like a mug with the picture of the family, make a poem for him, make a sketch or a caricature, etc...something made especially for them would really brighten up someone elses day. You can also try giving him something that that would make him remember you all the time. Maybe you can also prepare him a special breakfast or dinner and have a date, just the two of you. Sometimes, those moments and things money can't buy are the most precious gifts you could ever give to someone special.

I'd look at what their hobby's are. Alot of times there are things that you can get them dealing with their hobbies that even if they already have some...they can always use more. Say their big on fishing. Even if they already have flies for casting, you could buy them more or a new pole, fish bucket, chair, ect. If their into pc's, a new memory stick, mouse, speakers, headphones, ect. My Hubby is into gaming so I usually buy him a new pc game when I can and he really likes that. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I'd be a bit upset but nothing major. =3 "What do you buy for people who have everything they want?" What can I buy for people who have everything... hmm. You research real hard and get them something they don't have (new items related to interests or wants) or something they can't exactly own (concerts, games, events, fun at a location) "What do you buy for someone who goes out and buys anything they might need for themselves?" That is simple, you steer clear of things they need unless they can't afford it. You go for things they want (or things you think they want to the best of your ability). If that fails, you go for treats and goodies. The point is to get something enjoyable or VERY enjoyable. "Until last year I never celebrated Valentines Day" That reminds me I need to successfully capture you Cyni. Or have you already set plans in motion to capture me... O_o Overall I didn't get to see this discussion and would have been glad to help. Seemed like mylot was dominated by more "what are you going to get for Valentines" and a few "what can I do for Valentines" discussions. Sorry I failed to get to your discussion. Just a reminder, you are always welcome to PM me.

I have PMed you....lol and a month later I got a response! It's ok. I managed. The wedding is just a hair over a month away. You had better better get to work if you intend on capturing me. A quick wit and a brilliant mind will only get you half way there.

I have a lot of friends who I don't know what to but for, too. They always really like it when I give them a really special & personal card I make for them, or if I cook for them.

Well I could give you a few ideas on what you might want to do...first of all think of everything that he likes or has ever talked about(like if he has said something about one day im going to get me such and such or I really want to go out and do this or that)or if you don't want to do that whats wrong with just staying home and fixing him a special dinner or something liek that and then taking him out and doing something else...you just really have to think and he will like it because you put alot of thought in it!
