Who all in Mylot considers oneself to be an evangelical? I think I can consider myself to be an evangelical. And for me to be an evangelical it is necessary to believe in doctrines like Trinity and authority of the Bible. The rest are more or less negotiable. Trinity will include high Christology though because without high Christology we cannot have Trinity. And without high Christology soteriology is seriously undermined. Please register yourself if you consider an evangelical. Blessings!

Sorry this is a bit off topic but I am not convinced soteriology is seriously undermined without the doctrine of the Trinity. all the best urban

That is ok. I think we can disagree. But my point was that Trinitarian affirms the divinity of Jesus. High Christology to me then means affirming the divinity of Jesus. If Jesus is not divine, does it undermine our idea of soteriology? I think so. Athanasius argued that the divinity of Jesus is necessitated by soteriology. But arguing backward is also correct. Jesus' divinity effects soteriology. That's the way I see. But I would be happy to read you point if you'd elaborate. with regards, headhunter

Ok, but before we start lets clarify our understanding of the doctrine of the Trinity. So, I think we can agree, perhaps, that there are passages in the Bible that support the doctrine of the Trinity and passages that run counter? Perhaps we might also agree that the doctrine of the Trinity is a construction of man and therefore not perfect? all the best urban

when you said 'that runs counter' do you mean to say there are passages that speak in contradicting terms? I won't use the word 'contruction'. I would say 'formulation' because the idea of Trinity is in the Bible, and the early Christians later tried to formulate correctly using the appropriate words. I think the basic question to the idea of Trinity is the question 'is Jesus divine'? If Jesus is divine Trinity is affirmed, and if Jesus is not divine Trinity is challenged. I think there is no dualism. regards, headhunter525

I too am evangelical because evangelist are teachers of the word thus evangelical. My job is to spread the word of God to all (to be evangelistic) in my everyday life. You must believe highly in the bible and teach a higher teaching (not just the milk of the bible but the meat too)
