I'm having trouble reaching 10 stars for mylot! What do you think put you 10 star guys over the top? I hate being the nine guy! haha, :P Not like it's a bad rating, I just thought it would be nice to finally be 10!

Even i wonder what this rating is all about? Hey can anyone tell me what is this rating all about and how does it matter in the site? and how do people get their rating ? and how do they improve upon it? Moreover is anyone over who has actually got a cheque.. I always wonder if this site ever pays? and if it does in how much time dow we have to get it done.. bcoz i had earn a single $ and since i had been away for a long long time.. it has been reducerd to 0 again.. so its a fresh start for me again..So any1 plz can guide me?

I think the rating is basically to guide members to posts that have a fulfilling amount of detail. You see people with ratings of 1-4 and usually they have the 1-4 because of discussions that start out with 3-4 words & just asking a question, or people responding with a yes or a no, or a yes or no and three-four words after it compared to this that have a huge wall of text and are really trying to be active in the Mylot community with 8-10 stars! That's just my take on it, anyways. Don't worry, as long as you stay active you'll get paid. There is more then enough people sticking around that would have passed the 10$ payment at least 2-3 times & haven't left yet which makes me almost 100$ sure that you'll get paid. I haven't seen any negativity either towards Mylot other then members that broke the rules or were inactive for way too long.

Just be patient... my first star rating was 8... then it became like a see saw between 9 and 10... 9 is not such a bad number... and other actually have lower like 5, 4, and even 1... I realize that in order to get a star rating of 10 and keep it... one must maintain friends that you know will give you a positive rating... members who already reached 10 always do that... And now everytime a member would respond to my discussion even if they do not agree with my opinion... i still give them a positive rating...

yes, but i know what this man is talking about..this is an election year and people get real mean when it comes to elections..some people in the Philippines get even worse..as my wife has a cousin who had to leave the Philippines because of his opposition to Marcos..he was shot several times..and he still lived.. But now he is married to a fellow Pinoy who is a nurse and heis a chef..in the US..so things turn out.. but politics are like religion..you should not talk about them as some peoople get very upset and are set in their ways.. I too am an eight but i don't worry about the petty people who don't like my post..delete them or whatever..once I was kicked out of Answers! on Yahoo..and i was the highest level..but it was my fault as I violated the rules of conduct and it don't matter how many friends you have..you are out and all your points too..but i just got another e-mail account and started all over again..its all a dog and pony show anyway..thanks for the great post..by

The star is a symbol of your activity on myLot. The more positive ratings and best responses you get, the higher the rating. I guess there's no secret there: just give many quality responses, build a network of reliable friends and your rating will improve, as your earnings will.

Of what I know, it does, but not very much. Nobody really knows the earning algorithm. Mylot is hanging to this with both hands and their teeth. If they tell us the algortithm they won't be able to control how much they pay anymore...

Don't feel too down. I'm not too happy being the '4-guy'. :P I'm guessing though that my low rating is maybe for a couple reasons. First, I'm still relatively brand new at this thing. I signed up some time ago but then went away for quite a while (and lost my earnings too). I'd have to think my long absence/inactivity didn't do too well for starting me out at a higher number when I first got my star a couple days ago. You're probably right in some respects that some people have a really low star number because of the length or quality of their posts. But I definitely don't think I belong in that category. I honestly don't think I've given a response to a discussion shorter than ten lines (ongoing internal discussions within a discussion excluded). I'm guessing I need to start working on getting in faster on discussions so I up my chances of snagging some more best responses. Heeeeeeey. . . you could be a great guy and give me a best response and see if that helps me out! ;)

Thanks so much for your response (and for choosing me!). :-) I definitely learned my lesson about going AWOL and won't let that happen again. I'm pulling for you to get up to that 10 star mark. Hope you have a great day! :-)

My main guess is that it is due to your inactivity. Not only does Mylot probably frown upon that, but the friends on your friendlist. I mean, it's like one day you're responding to their discussions, and they're responding to yours and then BAM gone for a bit, and then you come back & in that time you were gone you might have frustrated a lotttt of people! Just keep up the good quality of your posts & make close friends to help boost your rating back up! I'm not sure that Best responses effect your rating, but who knowss. I'm going to mark your response as best response though as I felt you gave the most descriptive & honest response, :)

Approaching 10 is cool, but never reach 10 is the main point here, right. I don't really know how to reach the 10th star rating, but I'm one of them who try to get it. Some people say, 10 star rating is not the highest one, there is something even higher than that. I'm not sure, just read what they write, haha!

I have 10 stars and I don't know why. But maybe it's because I make lengty answers most of the time. Also being extremely polite in debates is another thing: people often give you the minus rating just for a word you've said I don't have a lot of best responses, by the way

Well, you are pretty hot so that could possssiibly be it. I dont know, I feel as though my posts are fairly lengthy and I still am only sitting at 9 stars.., and I have had about six best responses in the first month I joined.. who knows how the stars work! I forget to rate people a lot.. so maybe they do the same to me, and just forget and it might explain why a lot of people are still sitting at nine!

I dont care too terribly much either, I was just curious as to how exactly people achieve the 10starness stuff & I wasn't sure what other discussion to make at the time, =P

Thanks but the avatar is not me unfortunately :D "I forget to rate people a lot" I tell you a secret: I often don't rate anyone :D. I don't think rating others is linked to the star. Maybe you have someone against you who gives bad ratings I don't care about the 10 star, anyway, if it was possible I could give you mine ^___-

I have been a 9 and a 10 back in forth since I started mylot at the end of 2006. I am not really sure how I have gotten the 10 rating when i have maybe from my responses or my disscussions. it is cool to be a 10 though for a while. keep doing like you are and I am sure you will get there sooner or later :)

I hate to say it, but I think you have to be a total kiss a$$ to get a 10. YOu can never say anything controversial, and you have to agree with every discussion. It's the way the system works and it stinks. SO, like me, if you ever disagree with someone, you get a - and you can't get to 10. I was there once, but didn't stay long because I probably told someone they needed to go research their position better.

Aha, I have no idea what I did this time but my star rating dropped from about 93-94 all the way down to 90! I have been a bit less active within the site, maybe the star rating can drop the less active you are? I have no idea, really! Ahhhh well. This discussion is way old, star rating doesn't much matter to me anymore, =P

I wouldn't mind being the nine guy. When I first got my star it was at 7, then dipped to 6. Now I'm back at 7. I've begun posting much more frequently, so I'm hoping I might actually become "the eight guy" soon. I'll try to stay out of the political discussions to improve my chances.

I had a ten star once. It lasted for about a week then someone killed me. I dropped from a 99 to a 74 in one 24 hour period. All I can think of is someone went around and marked all my responses and discussions with a negative because I pissed them off. I didn't have any discussions deleted or anything that day so it's the only thing I can think of that happened. Now it is taking for ever to build it back up. I now am around a 95, I think, I never checked it yet toady. But you know what, your star rating doesn't matter anyways. It's just a rating and has nothing to do with our earnings. So don't worry about it.

Can anyone tell if the rating goes to 10 will it increase the earnings here. What's the use of increasing the rating.

I was a 10 once. But I am too honest to ever get to be a 10 again. Sometimes the truth hurts, so people who don't want to hear an honest, educated response because it doesn't agree with them - well, they will rate you a negative. I think getting to a 10 means that you don't disagree with people and you basically do a lot of sucking up so that you always get a positive rating. That being said, that blue star is over rated.
