money put into a saving account years ago.

when i was in fourth and fifth grade we live in wichita falls texas in school a local bank would come in every friday and we would deposit 1.00 into a saving account that was open in our name. i can not remmber the name of the bank or the name of the school i attended. i graduated high school in 1983 and no longer live there.

If the amount saved is substantial, it will be earning interest and hence the account will still be active. Check first with the bank \what have they done for your account and how to get back your funds.

i forgot about a checking account once too and I looked under the unclaimed property website and my came up and it was really easy to claim

I would go to the State of Texas' unclaimed property division & check. http://www.window.state.tx.us/up/ Banks turn over funds to the unclaimed property division when money has been sitting idle for an extended period of time.
