Is there such a thing as Best Friends and Friend?

As I have personally experienced--I find sharing some aspects of my life with some of my friends easier than with others. This also comes in terms of time, topics discussed, and so on and so forth. Some people know these people as friends and best friends. Someone once told me "a friend is a friend--no matter how you look at it, there are no best friends, there only exists friends and acquaintances" So I pose the question, "Do you believe in Friends and Best Friends or only Friends and Acquaintances?" Please explain why if you find it necessary.

I believe there is a difference between a friend and a best friend. I too find that sharing some aspects of my life with some of my friends easier than with others. I think that there are many levels of friends. I have a best friend and a sort of second best friend and a number of rather close friends and several friends and a whole bunch of acquaintances. And they all know different things about me. I don't think this is at all strange or unusual.
