Next Stop--Tokyo...Or Not?

United States

I am a student in high school and have become addicted to the prospect of moving to Tokyo as soon as I graduate, attending an American-University for the sake of my parents' fear that credits won't transfer when I decide to return. There is a factor of money that I must overcome nevertheless, where there is a will--there is a way, right? I am not to be stopped, I promised myself. No matter how many people suggest it's wrong, us teenagers are always dreamers. Similar dreams? Tell me about it. Past experience or suggestions? I'd love to hear.

Hi I'm dreaming of studying in Japan too and as early as now, i'm doing my research on how i would be able to study there. You're in highschool and you want to study in japan for college. A lot of filipinos here were able to study in Japan under a scholarship. And I can say that Japan is generous when it comes to that. I suggest that you better start doing your research now regarding this scholarship so that money won't be a problem. And also I think that it's the best way to be able to study in Japan cause this scholarship program actually helps you enter the University. The process starts when you fill out an application form for the scholarship and if you pass, they will be the one to find a University for you. And also they will be sending you to a language school first so you'll learn the language. That's how it works with the filipinos applying for scholarship in Japan. I just don't know how it works in the US but I think it'll be almost the same. So there, visit the Japanese embassy website for more information. Good luck to you! ^_^

Welcome to My Lot. I think that it will be the things that you want to do but don't do in life that will be your regrets when you get older. When you are 16 to 21 or so you are shaping your future life and this may include travel and getting more qualifications. My brother in law went to live in Japan for a few months and he said it was one of the best things he has ever done. Yes, where there is a will there is a way. Japan is expensive but I could live there one day as a teacher if I wanted to. Would you study or work in Japan do you think? I went around the world when I was 20 and am pleased that I took a year out to do this. Good luck achieving your dream to live in Japan.
