What do you do to beautify your yard or home area?

Rocks. Wheels and Driftwood - I saw how this house had decorated their yard with stones, wagon wheels and large pieces of driftwood. I thought it was very attractive so I took a picture of it. I've always like driftwood. I think they have such interesting shapes.

While I was out in Colorado, I enjoyed looking at the different houses. (The architecture there is much different from Florida.) They don't get much rain when my daughter lives and I noticed people are very creative in their yards. There are a lot of rock gardens, etc. I took some pictures of some beautiful driftwood in one yard. I got some ideas for some different landscaping in my yard. What kinds of things do you like to have in your yard or around your home?

Yeah, we dont get much rain here in Colorado. It is like gardening in a constant drought. This year, I plan on digging up the grass (ok, weeds) between the front sidewalk and the street and replacing them with wild flowers. I am tired of dragging the lawn mower down the steps, and as I noted it is manily weeds. We brought the house five years ago, and I have been doing a little bit every year. We started out with dirt and weeds--the previous owner brought the house as an investment property and never cared about the yard. I have thought about a rock garden, but it really does not interest me. Instead I have chosen drought resistant herbs and flowers.

It is always good to use native plants or things that go with the climate. Good luck on having a great yard!

I have different things around my front garden. It's a work in progress and very slow. There is an old hand and horse operated plough, and a big old wheel but here is a photo of the continers I use for my parsley and mint.

Herb containers holding parsley and apple mint. - My wacky sense of humour came up with these 'pots' for growing herbs.
Well, how disappointing. I wonder why that didn't work. Ok...try again....
