Simon Cowell has gone soft!

Is it just me or does Simon seem like he just is not really in the game this season? He seems to be the weak link at the judges' table. It had always been Paul Abdul, but she seems much tougher overall this season. I'm wondering about when they get to Hollywood if things will revert to their old ways. I miss the mean Simon. He was more entertaining than this new version.

I think Paula hasn't gotten a little tougher, and Simon hasn't dished out AS MANY mean comments to the auditioners. But I defeniatly wouldn't say he is the weak link at the judges table. I still wouldn't want to have to step in front of him to be judged lol. He can still speak his mind!

What about the times this season when she was the only no at the table. I don't think I've seen that more than a time or two in all of the other seasons combined. This year she's already been the only no at least a half dozen times. Randy has only been the only no about once so far this year. Simon's really not much ahead of Paula at this point.

I defeniatly do agree Paula has changed. But I still think Simon would be the scariest. And I think the one reason Simon hasn't seemed AS mean as in the past is because quite a few of the bad singers have been really bubbly characters ('You are my brother' guy for example). And Simon always says he likes them because they are nice people, so he is reluctent to be too mean. I'm not saying I disagree with you, he hasn't seemed that mean this season. I just mean that I don't think he is the weak link. hehe

Ive noticed this too simon is getting too nice. In the past no matter how good a performance was there was always something he found that was wrong with it. People would make such a spectale of him making a positive comment which only happen a couple of times in the first season. After this is figure the producers found that they got higher ratings when simon made a positive comment. From here i guess they told him to be nicer so that people would respond better to the show. I do miss the all but negative comments from simon though.

You could have a point. It might be a change to attract viewers. Simon's all about making a buck!

Yes, Simon appears to be mellowing out, doesn't seen to be his old self. Maybe he's getting a little tired of it all.

I haven't watched consistently, but from what I have seen he is just as no nonsense as ever. Although, a couple of times the people he stood up for surprised me. I wouldn't have sent them through had it been me, but then again I am not sitting on their panel. I do like the mean Simon also. I think his personality is part of American Idol's charm. If everyone on the panel was sweet, kind and full of gushing kudos I don't think it would capture my attention quite as completely.

I have also said that this season too...I have said that it seemed like he was the one that was the calm one this season usually he just tells everyone off and tells them the truth either you suck or you are good or you are in the middle...but it seems like he has gotten a little soft this season...I saw him doing an interview one time and they ask him if he ever feels bad for doing that to people and he said once he looks back he really does feel bad maybe that is it...but randy has taken his position in my opinion!
