Did your water break on its own when you went into labor? Was it a big gush like they say or what? How was your experience with this?

With my first child my water broke on its own at 3 in the morning while I was sleeping I felt a big gush of water and then it keeps trickling after that until you have the baby. With my daughter the doctor broke my water while I was in the hospital having contractions so I have had it both ways.

The doctor broke mine and it was also like a bug gush, then little gushes every time I had contractions. It almost felt like I was peeing on the bed but I just couldn't help it.

The doctor had to break mine. Everyone said it hurt, but it didn't even bother me. I don't know if that's because my doctor was more gentle or what. My doctor was really hoping that breaking my water would send me into heavy labor, but no such luck, I had to be induced. Maybe if I would have waited a few more days it would have worked. I had him a couple of days early, because my doctor told me to go ahead and go to the hospital when my contractions were 8 minutes apart, because they were calling for snow the next day, and I was several miles away. I had also been sick for the last few weeks, so we were all ready for the baby to be born!

My water didn't break until I went to the hospital. A nurse checked me and it broke then, poor lady got soaked! I had an epidural at the time, so I didn't feel a thing. I was so freaked out about it breaking while I was sitting on the couch or laying in bed!

I was almost 3cm when they broke my water. I was almost 2 weeks overdue when I finally went into labor. The second time I was only a little dilated but having a c-section so they never broke my water. I had heard all the stories about water breaking but it never happened to me.

With my first the doctor broke my water. First there was a small trickle but when the first contraction came so did the fluid and what a mess. With my second my water broke 2 months early. It was a steady stream of fluid over 2 days until there was nothing left and they had to induce my labor to save the baby. So I had both the big gush and a steady flow.

Actually my water didnt break on its own with any of my kids...the doc had to break it with both my oldest son and my daughter and I dont remember how it went with my youngest but being so preemie I was a little preoccupied with other aspects..

Well, I was in labor when my water broke, I did not feel it, the nurse asked me when it broke but I did not know and neither did she. I had so little water, that the chux stayed dry. It was strange.

when i'm in labor, it's really hurting me because it's only blood flowing, my water bag did not break on it's own, the doctor needs to cut it so that my baby will come down..my labor was a very painful one because of the blood, lots of blood, it's a dry labor actually and maybe if my water bag broke i will be able to have a good labor..but i'm happy that my baby is healthy and she's already 3 this time..

if you looked at papers of my pregnancy it will say it broke on its own... i would say different.. i was induced, and that had just started picotin. my mid wife was checking to see how dilated i was, and was also scraping my membranes.. and GUSH! it was nasty lol i was also laying down in bed.. it was horrible and hurt for me because my mid wife kept pushing to try to get all the water out.

No, I had to be induced because my son was supposedly two weeks late. I went in on a Wednesday morning and they had me walking the wards and slight hills around the hospital but still nothing. By Thursday 10pm, they induced me. Four hours later my son was born!

With my first born my water broke on it's own. I had one big gush while at home, but also had a few smaller ones once I arrived at the hospital. With my second born my water didn't break on it's own, so the doctor broke it for me.

No sweety they didn't! With my eldest I was induced and had my waters broken eventually, with my youngest they broke my waters when I was less than 1 cm dilated (I was 12 days overdue) and they insisted on me having gas and air first as they said it would be painful at that stage! I am having no more children so I won't ever experience this! When my Grandmother was younger no one explained anything about the facts of life to her and when her waters broke with her first she was mortified as she thought she had peed herself! xxx

Well, in my case... my baby was already overdue and i was waiting for my water to break... but all i got was a leak... but i was content with that since it means that there was no need to induce labor... the doctor just bursted my water... which is quite painful... but i can't complain... because i really wanted to deliver my baby... i was already almost 1 week overdue...

My water did break on its own. I was scheduled for a csection but my son decided that he wanted to come 7 days early. I had gone to use the washroom and get ready to go out for the day. I went to get up from the toilet and it felt like a water balloon broke between my legs. I heard it, it kinda freaked me out. There was alot of water at first and then it slowed down. I didnt have the big huge gush like they say that you get but I did have quite a bit of water and it come out of me for a few hours. I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant and again scheduled for a csection and wondering if I get to experience the water breaking thing again if he decides to come early. You are pregnant I assume? how far along are you? do you know if its a boy or girl? and Congrads :)
