I got deleted...

What are the reasons why you would delete a friend from your list?... Last week i deleted those who have less than 100 post and were not active for months... those who have more than 100 post are still in my list eventhough they haven't logged on for quite some time now... Then i noticed... as i was surfing the site looking for discussion to respond to... that some members deleted me from their list... and i don't know why... i have been active for months and have responded to their discussions before... so i don't exactly understand why... This is not a rant... just wanted to vent out my curiosity...

Hello aseretdd, I decided not to delete anyone on my list. But, yesterday when I responded to a discussion on how to delete a friend, I made a decision to try and delete one friend whom I know being banned from My Lot quite some times ago. In fact, I feel guilty to delete them from my list as I wouldn't know the exact reason why they are inactive or maybe, they will be active again in a near future. I am sorry to hear that you are being deleted from someone's list. But, can you let me know how actually you will know that you are being deleted by someone? I still can't figure out the way. Does it mean when you saw your friend's discussion and you didn't get the notification for that particular discussion, shows that you are being deleted from the list?

Well, at first i noticed that they started discussions that i did not get any email notification... i thought it was just a glitch in the system... but when i check their profile... i saw the words ADD AS A FRIEND... instead of SEND MESSAGE... and that means i am no longer in their friends list... I started deleting inactive friend so that i can make space for new friends who are active... so now i am really curious why i got deleted...thanks for the response...

I agree... i must not concentrate on them since whatever their reasons are they have the right to delete me... so i will put my energy on my friends who are active and wants me to stay as their friend...

Hello aseretdd, If that is the matter, I am too, might be deleted by some friends here without my knowledge. I didn't get so many notifications from certain friends. In fact, we were active responding to each other. I thought it was a glitch (remember the last time we didn't get too many alerts from My Lot?) but till now, I still don't hear from them. I don't have time to check whether I am still in their friend's list or not. Never mind then...I still have you and other active friends who are fun to be with here.

I cannot imagine anyone deleting you on purpose. If a friend got banned from myLot, would it look like they deleted you? I have deleted a few people. One put spam referral links on my profile page without asking! And then came back and asked to be approved as a friend again, and I refused and he came back AGAIN and I refused him again, and that person has been banned for repeatedly breaking myLot rules. I don't delete very many people, but there are a few things I won't tolerate. Referring links are one and continuously proselytizing is another, especially when the person is blatantly intolerant of the views of other members. I don't mind people disagreeing with me, but I'd prefer they not threaten me with eternal damnation if I politely disagree with them. Oh, and I did delete two people for being repetitive nagging whiners. I hated to do it, but it was getting old. It came down to a choice of turning notify off or just deleting them and I have no room in my life for chronic passive aggression. I agree that clearing out some of the fair-weather friends makes room for new and better buddies.

Well, i never put referral links on the profile page of others... and i don't violate mylot rules... and i remember responding to their discussions before and those responses were never rude or contrary to their opinion... so... me being deleted is such a mystery for me... I like to have active friends because i have a lot of discussions to choose from... but i can't respond to all 10 that they start...

It could be because you haven't responded to their discussions (because they didn't interest you or for other reasons?). Or maybe they weren't interested in the one's you started. Btw, how can you find out if they have deleted you from their list? There are a few friends on my list who are active...but I don't respond to their dsicussions because I don't like the discussions on news items. I don't think I have responded to a single one of theirs because of this. I wouldn't be surprised if they deleted me off their list....because that's all that they ever start.

lol...I guess I have to get started on checking out who deleted me from their list. But I do get notified of the discussions that some myLotters (who I thought would have deleted me for not responding to their discussions)have started. I check my friend list like once a month and delete people who haven't logged on in months (but I do feel guilty because I wasn't on for 9 months before I started getting active)....so they can be like me too.

Well, if the friends i deleted ever come back... i would have second thoughts in inviting them as friends again... i too was inactive for like 3 months... then came back to stay for a very long time... i never experience being deleted back then because i didn't have a single friend in my list...

Them not being interested in the discussions that i post is a good reason for them to delete me from their friends list... well, we can never please everybody... so i can accept that... You can always find out if you got deleted when you visit their profile and you see the words ADD AS A FRIEND instead of SEND MESSAGE... that is how i found out...thanks for the response...

Well, if you have time to check out your friends in the list... you will be surprise to see that a lot of members there have been inactive for quite some time now... i like to limit my list to only 10 pages so that it will not be too difficult if i want to find someone in the list... but if there is a way for us to arrange the friends list alphabetically... i think i wouldn't remove anyone there...thanks for the response...

I never deleted anyone in my friend's list. I don't know why people would delete someone active from their friends' lists, that puzzles me! Lucky that I don't have a very good memory and I don't remember who are my friends. Otherwise if I found out there I was deleted, I would be upset *laughs*. I think if I have to delete someone from my list, that would be those who are inactive!

I'll remove somebody if we don't seem to have anything in common. There doesn't seem to be a lot of point in having somebody on my f-list if they never post anything I feel like responding to.

Well, that is a valid reason... since everytime they start a discussion...i can only respond to one... and they don't even respond to mine... but still... i always wait for a moment or a situation or a discussion that will eventually manifest something that we have in common...thanks for the response...

I used to go through my friends list, & delete people who had not been active for at least one month. I haven't done that for a long time now. Other My Lotters may delete people who they strongly disagree with. I dont bother either way if people delete me, in fact I wouldn't even know if I have been deleted from someones list.

I only delete m from my list everytime it has more than 10 pages... i want to limit it to only ten so that i can make room for more who are active... i have friends who would disagree with my opinion but i never take that against them as long as they are not rude...i was just curious as to why i got deleted... thanks for the response...

Sometimes people get deleted from friend's lists for various reasons. In my case, it was not having enough people in my favorite interest, so I deleted some of my friends so that I would get a more balance interest group instead of being top heavy in one direction. So that might have what happened to you. Your friend was fixing up her interest because maybe everyone agreed with her when she wanted opposition or most were against her. That means as soon as the list is fixed, she will invite you back. Another reason is maybe she wants more of her country, or more of another country, so once that is fixed up, she will invite you back. So it could be temporary. In my opinion, those who have less than 100 posts is not a good reason for deletion, having nothing in common in any place, but if they are hardly on myLot, that would be a good reason. But the world will not come to an end because you are deleted. It could have been a mistake. I would suggest you check the interests to see if there is a conflict or her answers to your posts or your answers to her post. You might get a clue there.

Thank you very much for this insight... mainly about balancing the interest group... that may have been main reason why i got deleted... i don't really feel bad about it... just curious... but now that you were able to give a concrete one... this may have answered my curiousity... thanks for the response...

Don't worry about it... i don't actually feel sad... just curious...because i actually thought that one's inactivity or rudeness should be the main reasons why a member is to be deleted from a friends list... and since i am neither... that made me think that there could be other reasons... i still have a lot friends that i really can relate to... so it is not actually not my lost but theirs... thanks for the response...

Hmmm..can't help you as to why you might have gotten deleted, maybe it was an accident and they didn't realize you were still active.. or maybe they felt you werent visiting them and commenting their posts as often as they thought you should .. people do things for strange reasons sometimes. Personally, I never delete anyone for any reason, the more the merrier.. i'm hardly ever active here anymore because I'm more active on sites like Gather and my own blogs now..so I wouldn't be surprised if lots of people start delating me LOL

Wouldn't it be mutual, if you delete someone they are bound to delete you, so don't feel bad about it. I don't delete anyone because there is no upper limit to the number of friends you have here or in real life.

I don't actually fell bad... just curious... i agree that there is no limit in the number of friends that we can add... but in my case... i want to limit it to only 10 pages since it is so difficult to find one if we have like 20 or more pages in our list... thanks for the response...

Hmmm...I do not have an answer that will help because I have never deleted anyone so far. However, I have been giving it some consideration because I have a growing number of requests and I am finding it challenging to sort through the increasing pages to find who I am looking for. It would be great if Mylot would find a way for us to alphabetize them. So sorry I am not much help here. I guess the reason I would delete someone would be similar to yours...inactivity. Maybe the best thing would be to contact the people who deleted you and just ask them. To me upfront discussion is easier than guessing. I do not do well with that and would rather KNOW..but that is just my way...do what works for you! Raia

I thought of asking them... but in order for to send them a private message... i would have to add them as a friend... and i do not want to do that due to the fact that they already deleted me from their list... I think rudeness and inactivity are the best reasons to delete a friend from the list but i was never rude nor inactive... I also agree that we should be able to alphabetize the friends list... it that was to happen i wouldn't delete anyone anymore... thanks for the response...

The only reason I've deleted a friend so far has been because all the topics that person brought up were about making extra money online. I suppose I could've said turn notify off.

I am also tempted to turn the notify off on a particular friend because of the very same reason... but i decided to give him a chance... who knows... maybe one day he will actually start a discussion that i can relate to... or he might even respond to mine one day... thanks for the response...
