What do you think of older women dating younger men or vice versa?

I heard on Sunrise this morning that Elle Mcpherson (43yrs) is dating a 21 year old. I personally do not think I could date someone half my age, but I have nothing against women that do date men younger then them. I just think it would be difficult to have a relationship with someone alot younger then you as you are in a different stages of life. For example the older women might be ready for children whilst the young man might want to party with his mates as he has just recently turned 21. Also the younger man might not be ready for commitment whilst the women is. Also that means alot of the mutual friends that you share together will also be younger. Instead of going to barbecues you might be going to night clubs at 40 years. Obviously though relationships can work with a big age difference. Look at Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas they are happily married with children. Also Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes also seem quite well suited. There is also Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, that could present problems later on if he wants kids and maybe she doesn't want to as she already has three of her own. What are your views?

I have always liked younger men, and I have always gotten on better with younger men, I have been told I don't look anywhere near my age and I feel personally I just never really matured to my age, and to be honest I have known men alittle younger than me that I feel were mentally just too old... so i guess you can say i just never grew up....

Lucky you, you have the package, looking younger and young at heart. Thanks for your reply.

Age doesn't matter for me. For a relationship to be effective, in my opinion, what counts is the respect you have for each other, you love each other and care for each other. I believe that there are people though still young but are mature already, and there are also old but still does not have a direction in life. For a relationship to flourish and last, age is not the best gauge.

Hello Kiran1978, I dont see a problem with it at all. I'm 49 and my wife is 12 years older than I am and we're celabrating our eleventh anniversary this summer. I've never been happier with my life than I am right now. I guess Ive always been a bit old fasioned and so is my wife so it works out real good for us. Take care, Terry

I believe as long as the man and woman love each other, their ages should not matter. I'm sure any differences can be worked out if the couple is willing to talk about them and work out a compromise.

personally i dont know if i could go out with someone younger than myself as i prefer a man to be quite a bit older than myself normally because they are wiser than a young man also i'm quite an adaptable person-really though i dont think age matters as long as you can have the communtication trust and love-then the relationship may work out-i do agree with your views think though it has to be a personal preference-littleowl
