I have a terrible habbit of looking on sites like WebMD and then thinking that I have everything that I read about. Does anyone else ever do things like that?

I have some medical problems so I do go to sites like webMD. I usually use it to check up on what the doctor tells me, to look up medicines and procedures, and occassionally to find out about sysmptoms. WebMD has opened up a doorway for many to look up various symptoms and illnesses that used to be only available to doctors and nurses and from specific books. I think that is one reason that it is better not to know some things. There are always stories of people who would watch medical shows and think they had diseases that were mentioned (just watched House and thinks of all of the diagnoses that the team goes through in a single show) I know my brother in law who used to be a nurse doesn't like going there because he doesn't want to think about the possibilities that could be happening. Now if someone trained in medicine could think that way, I am sure that someone just looking at the site without the training may come to conclusions. I have found that letting my doctor make the diagnosis is best, and use the site to ask the right questions, and to find more detailed information about what he says.
