Shrove Tuesday

How do you celebrate it and what does it mean to you. In my religeon it is the mark of the beginning of fasting or giving up something for Lent, I will be giving up all forms of alcohol for a period of 40 days leading up to Easter. I still carry out the old tradition of making pancakes which we have with a variety of fillings or just on their own with lemon and sugar. If you have pancakes what are your fav fillings, and if you are giving something up for lent what would it be and why?

Now being from Eastern Kentucky where everyone is Baptist, I had never even heard of it until my adult life when I started watching the news and such. I still don't really celebrate unless someone brings me a treat for Fat Tuesday.

Hi TAURUSGIRL, I grew up in the Anglican faith and It was a very big deal back then. We always had pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and we also would give up something for Lent. It is only a memory for me now, and I don't know many people who pay it much attention anymore. Blessings.
