Illegal Immigration

I know this has probably been discussed alot and it is a big issue in the political arena and campaign circuit, but I am wondering how people out here feel about a country overrun by illegal immigration? I think something has to be done about it NOW! I'm not sure what, since there are millions of illegals already here. Maybe the single men and women, and ones who commit crimes, run in gangs, etc. could be slowly sent back. The married couples could be given a chance to apply for status and the kids born here from illegals should be naturalized only if their parents become naturalized. It's a very tough situation for sure. I can understand people wanting to come and live here from countries like Mexico and Cuba where conditions are poor, but they should NOT enter this country illegally, commit crimes, take jobs, not pay taxes, etc. It isn't fair to immigrants who entered legally and had to pay alot of money to get status.

It is a crime for them to be here illegally, so it should be treated as a crime. If I break the law, it is not going to be overlooked. So why are we overlooking this, is it just because it has gotten so far out of hand that it cannot be controlled. Not a good reason.

They say there is safety in numbers, and in this case it could be true. There is such a massive amount of illegal aliens it's overwhelming to sit down and think of ideas to solve the problem. Putting up a fence, just isn't working. Fences can be climbed over and dug under. The answer is in us. We have to stop hiring and housing illegal aliens. Stop being so greedy for the almighty American dollar (which isn't worth much these days). These people have to stop coming here and having children by the dozens and using the fact that these children, because they were born here, have the right to stay here. They only have the right if the parets are legal immigrants, otherwise, they should not be considered Americans. We, as a people, cannot rely on our government to change any of this, we have to do it ourselves! Form committees, be aware, help to make others aware...that's how it's done!

They come here and are given foodstamps, low income houseing, given education free, get free medical. Many use the Hill/Burton Act so if an American Citizen who is low income needs it. The illegals have used it up early in the year. They take jobs Americans need. Employers pay them dollars less than they will Americans. Because they know we cannot support ourselves on what they pay illegals. They commit crimes, steal identity and social security cards to work and other crimes. Some are terrorists and milk our system. Wake up Politians and stop giving free rides and make them pay for their crimes. Other countries throw people in jail and they are NOT treated well for crimes why should we not do the same. We make it too easy to be criminals here.

I completely agree. The residents of this country should have clamped down on this problem right at the very beginning - say around 1492.

Why don't they bring back places along all boardering states like Ellis Island. It should be heavily controled as it once was. Sure, you can come on in, but legally. There are illegal gang-bangers taking over entire neighborhoods, forcing out many hard working families from the areas they have lived in for years. Reducing their property values so they have to take pennies on the dollar for what they paid for their homes. I don't hear this subject being mentioned much any more with the Hillary's, Obama's or McCains, Romney's or Huckabee's any more. They are so busy trashing each other. In my opinion, this is the most important issue facing our country. Good subject! Hopefully will come up with a good plan and stick to it, for all of our sakes!

It's scarey. They come here with the help of the American government. They get jobs, free healthcare (that we "don't qualify" for), driver's licenses without having to learn english. We are losing our jobs due to this and still having to pay taxes to watch them get a rebate. Alot of them are not coming over for work like they used to generations before. You notice the crime rate, among illegal immigrants has gone up. AND on top of everything else, if you dare to say anything against it you will be called a racist. They (our wonderful people of congress) don't stop and think about the economy and the long term affects. They're only thinking of "right now" for themselves. It's pretty bad when emrgency rooms are closing down because they treated (for free) illegal immigrants and "can't afford" to stay open. Where does that leave the rest of us?
