Hi! I am a 33 year old wife and mother. I am thinking about going back to school next year when my daughter starts Kindergarten. I would like to get my teaching degree. I am leaning toward teaching 7th and 8th graders in a subject such as English or Reading. I would love advice on how you decided what age group to teach and what subject to teach. Also, any good advice on how to make it through school at a late age? Thanks in advance!

Wow, that's great that you are thinking of entering the world of study again. You should follow the path you feel most comfortable with, and if that changes, then go with it.

Hey blueunicorn! I'm a 31 year old mother and wife and I am currently taking online college courses to become a teacher. When I first started thinking about teaching I though I would like to teach 4th, 5th, or 6th grade English. Since, then I became a substitute teacher and found that I enjoy teaching high schoolers more than the younger students. If you can become a substitute it will help you in your decision as far as what grade to teach. Just get ahold of your school to find out what you have to do. Here all we were required was to take a four hour class, along with a background check. Best of luck to you!
