Have any of you ever encountered an overly affectionate animal? You know, like your mother in laws toy poodle that is always too happy to see your leg. Or how about an affectionate feline that will paw at your chest for 20 minutes trying to make it a comfortable place to lay down? What about animals in the wild? Have any of you ever encountered a wild animal that wanted to do anything but eat you? I have and here is my story. I was molested by a southern sting ray. It happened when I was on vacation in Grand Cayman this summer. We all went out to Stingray city. The water is crystal clear blue and only about 4 feet deep and this place is just covered with sting rays. People go there and feed them so even though they are wild and can come and go as they please they stick around for the free food. The females are huge. and some are a little aggressive. I broke off from the people I was with because they were all feeding them and I didn't have any squid so I just floated out by myself to where there weren't any sting rays. No sooner did I put my feet down in the sand this huge stingray swam over to me. I'm not exaggerating when I say her wing span was a good six feet wide. She swam behind me and stuck her barbed tail between my legs and coiled it the whole way down to my ankle. I was convinced I was going to end up like Steve Irwin. I just stood there motionless while she drug her flipper or whatever the heck it's called over my lower back. She kept gliding over the back of me until her mouth was on me. She literally suckered me trying to eat the small of my back. When she realized I wasn't food she uncoiled her tail and swam away. I swear she followed the boat I climbed back up on a good 2 miles before she finally turned around and went back to stingray city. So can any of you top this one?

No I most definately can't top that, but I'll share my story anyway LOL We were at a zoo that lets the pelicans roam free. One pelican decided that my brother was his new best friend. He followed us for an hour ramming against my brothers legs and flapping his wings until finally my brother looked closer and realized the poor bird had picked up some little kids spit out bubble gum and his beak was stuck together! We found someone who worked for the zoo and they took care of it.In the meantime we took lots of pictures of my very embarrased brother! (he was 13 then and it didn't take much to embarrass him)

That is so cute! I took my daughter to the zoo when she was 3 and she was sitting up on my shoulders when we went to see the giraffes. One bent its head down and nuzzled the top of her head. She was absolutely horrified. My friend got a picture of it. I wish I still had it.

How on earth did you manage to stand there so calmly? I would have freaked out big time. I'm a little afraid of the water and not a strong swimmer. I once nearly stepped on a sting ray that was much smaller than yours and it really scared me. I'm even more scared to go into the water now. I think you were very brave and very smart. I recently saw an email with photos of as guy who freed a huge (really huge) shark which was caught in a fishing net. From then on this shark appears when he is in his little fishing boat and comes right up to the boat so that the guy can reach out and touch him. It comes right out of the water at him with it's mouth wide ...it does not attack. There are photos showing this. There is even one photo of this guy in a kayak (!!!) with the shark following him just a few metres behind ...the shark is bigger than the kayak. It was amazing. I thought I might have saved them so I could send them to you but it seems I didn't. *pout*

I'm a strong swimmer. I have legs that could break someones neck. But I realized it doesn't matter how strong a swimmer you are in the ocean. They live there, they will out swim you every time! I was scared, but if not for what happened to Steve Irwin I wouldn't have given it a second thought. These were southern stingrays and I wasn't backing it up against a reef. It had plenty of open water to swim around yet. It just wanted to give me a kiss. lol Lesbian stingrays - News at 11.
