When my kids were younger, I would buy items to celebrate their birthdays all through the year. When the blessed day arrived I let them make part bags for all their friends; afterwards they walked from house to house (never alone or out of eye site) delivering their packages. They would always great their friends by saying: "It's my birthday, here's your present!" The didn't know what to make of it at first but quickly grew to appreciate the fact that my kids were so willing to share on their special day. Do you have any special family traditions that are out of the ordinary? Tell us about them....

I celebrated the birthdays of my kids in different ways. To make it something that they will always look forward to. It s either we throw a party for them, we go outing, or they visit the places (mostly amusement or park) they long to visit. I always make it sure that they will enjoy the celebration.

What they will remember is how loved you made them feel; places and things do not matter as much as a parent's love. Children that are so loved usually make goodly parents themselves as well as good citizens who contribute positively to their community. Being a good parent through making positive family traditions helps to pave the way to a more positive lifestyle for your young ones. The positive reinforcement will sure them up and they will in turn share the thoughtfulness that you created for them while growing up with others. Traditions are important if used correctly.

Oh I think that is a wonderful tradition you had, my family didn't have anything out of the ordinaryreally but i know i used to think that when it is your birthday it should be the mother getting the present as a gift of thanks, I honestly used to think why am I getting a present it should be me giving my muma present.

It is never too late to start a new tradition; go ahead, give your mom a present on your next birthday. Now that my kids are older we have a gift exchange on every birthday; everyone buys an exchange gift for every member of our little family---I can just feel the love!
