Alot of people on this site are younger than I and some are older, but if you are on this site I'm sure at some point in your life you were stunned by a celebrity death such as Princess Diana or a natural disaster such as Hurricane Katrina or not so natural disaster such as 911. Maybe you even remember the day Kennedy was shot. Reflecting back on these incidents and others what stands out foremost in your mind and what were you doing when you heard the news?

On 9-11 I was a freshman in high school. I remember I was changing classes in between 1st and 2nd periods when my friend caught me and was like "a plane flew into the world trade center." I was like really. I halfway thought it was a joke. When I got to my next class my teacher had it on the news. I remember watching the second plane hit the towers and watching both towers fall during the one class. Its a day that I will never forget.

I am too young for Kennedy however I remember Diana I went over to my boyfriend's mom's house the day after and she told us. I did not believe her and thought that it was a joke. As for 911 I remember seeing the news about a plane that hit the first tower and then short time later there was another and another. I watched the news as the whole thing came down. I was at home with my 2 year old son at the time. I was in shock as I was glued to the TV and couldn't believe what was happening. I am in Nova Scotia where many planes were redirected at the time. I failed to keep an eye on my son who ended up going outside. Luckily he wasn't hurt but I was pretty numb.

I remember 9/11. I was stationed in Kingsbay, GA. I was about a year into the Marines. We were on post when I walked in and saw this on the TV. I was very irate at that point because I was not deployable. I did everything I could to get out of there and get deployed. It did not work. I was in disbelief filled with anger that someone had done this. My Lt. that I had was there to watch this day happen up close and personal. May all of them rest in peace.

That must have been very difficult not to be able to do what you so love doing. I really admire you.

The event that effected me the most was 9/11. I still can't see footage without crying. That day i was at my office. We had a tv in the office. I got a cell phone call from my roomate at the time telling me to turn on that tv. So I did. While the office is in the midwest, our base office was in New York. I sat there watching the live footage as the second plane hit. 2 days earlier my dad had traveled to New York on business. Now most here know my father and I are not at all close. But it still filled me with a sense of dread. My now hubby and I were to be married in 6 weeks. After that second plane hit, I tried to reach my dad via cell phone and couldn't. After the reports started pouring in I thought, " I have lost my dad (I didn't. Got in touch with him about 24 hours later) and I will have to postpone my wedding. The world will never feel the same. Well, we didn't postpone the wedding. And my dad was driving in when the event happend. He was stopped by police and traffic. But the world is NOT the same.

The one I remeber the most is 9-11 I was at work at Subway I was by myself the store had not opened yet I had the radio on and I heard them say a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center that is when they still thought it was an accident then all of sudden I heard the radio announcer going a second plane has hit I couldn't beleive it! I do kinda remember Princess Di's accident it was all over tv about it and Katrina I was watching from home. My mom remembers the day that Kennedy was shot.
